The Departmental Assembly approved the transfer of 80 billion pesos from the IDEA to the Government of Antioquia to advance the works of the new section of the Toyo Tunnel.

With 22 positive votes, Ordinance Project No. 50 was approved, which authorizes the transfer of 80 billion pesos from the Idea to the Government of Antioquia, to advance the works on the section of the Toyo Tunnel project.

“It is also a message for the National Government, to provide the necessary resources to finish this work on the Toyo Tunnel. The Governor here demonstrated his willingness to contribute some important resources,” said Jaime Cano, deputy of Antioquia.

These resources allow progress in the construction of the section delivered by the Nation, which includes a 482-meter tunnel, a 60-meter false tunnel, six bridges and 4.2 kilometers of tracks pending completion.

Sebastián Castaño Gómez, Undersecretary of Infrastructure of Antioquia, explained that: “With these surpluses from the Idea, we can guarantee the first part of execution so that the work does not stop, and in order to find the other resources that we have, we are evaluating issues of credits that may be had and the possible concurrence with the District of Medellín”:

In the same session, with 24 votes in favor, Ordinance Project No. 51 was approved, which allocates of the $89 billion in vehicle tax collection, $62 billion to the Periodic Economic Benefits program, to support older adults in the department.
