Bawaslu Lampung Confirms No Cancellation Recommendation for Metro Mayor Candidate Pair Wahdi-Qomaru

Election Shenanigans in Metro City! 🗳️

Ah, Metro City! A place where the electoral process seems to be almost as straightforward as solving a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded! And just when you thought the drama surrounding the 2024 regional elections couldn’t get any juicier, enter stage left: the cancellation of the candidate pair (palon) for mayor and deputy mayor, Wahdi-Qomaru Zaman. Grab your popcorn, folks, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

In a swirling vortex of accusations and court rulings, Bawaslu Lampung has stepped up to clarify its role in this incomplete thriller. According to Iskardo P Panggar, the Bawaslu Chairman, they’ve “never made a recommendation to cancel the Metro Mayor-Deputy Mayor candidate pair” to the KPU. This would be like saying, “I never suggested a meal at that restaurant where the food might give you food poisoning.” It’s a dodgy situation, indeed!

The whole ordeal traces back to a rather serious decision from the Metro District Court regarding Qomaru Zaman’s alleged “election” crime—fancy wording for a blatant electoral blunder. Someone call the *Election Avengers*! We’ve got a rogue candidate on the loose!

It gets really tasty when we dig into the nitty-gritty details. Apparently, Drs. Qomaru Zaman was found guilty—yes, guilty—of electoral misconduct and had to cough up a fine of a whopping Rp. 6,000,000.00 (about $420). And if that’s not a “pay up or face the music” situation, I don’t know what is! I mean, who knew elections could come with a side of jail time? Perhaps they should add “Electoral Escape Room” to the local attractions!

Now, the KPU of Metro City has taken a firm decision to cancel the candidacy of pair number 02. In other words, Metro City appears to have turned into a one-candidate show—who knew democracy could be so exclusive? The last-minute cancellation holds so much drama, I’m half expecting a scandalous reveal, like, “And the guilty pair was actually plotting to take over the world!” But alas, it seems that the Metro Pilkada will only have one candidate participating. Talk about a lonely race!

This also leaves us pondering—what will happen to all the campaign slogans and soft-focus photos? “Vote for Wahdi-Qomaru: Because second place is for losers!” Looks like they won’t be needing that one anymore!

Can Metro City survive with just one couple on the ballot? It sounds like a reality TV show waiting to happen. “The Real Candidates of Metro City” perhaps? Contestants will have to navigate through “Bad Decisions,” “Judgment Day,” and “The Fateful Courthouse.”

As Bawaslu reviews the KPU’s decision, the locals are likely left scratching their heads. It’s the electoral equivalent of a soap opera where characters double-cross each other daily—but without the melodrama of ‘Who’s the father?’ at least—thank your lucky stars for small mercies!

In conclusion, if there’s one takeaway from all this absurdity, it’s that elections in Metro City are anything but dull. As for the candidates, all we can say is: Take notes, folks! Maybe that six-million-in-a-months-fine thing should come with a brochure on how to avoid being embroiled in criminal charges next time!

Stay tuned: Lampung KPU is still mulling over this mess, and rumor has it; they are not quite ready to throw in the towel just yet!

Bandarlampung (ANTARA) – The Lampung Provincial Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) officially clarified that it has never suggested the annulment of the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidate pair (palon) for Metro, specifically the duo Wahdi-Qomaru Zaman, with serial number 02, to the Metro General Election Commission (KPU).

“We have never made a recommendation to cancel the Metro Mayor-Deputy Mayor candidate pair to the KPU,” asserted Iskardo P. Panggar, the Chairman of Bawaslu Lampung, during a press briefing in Bandarlampung on Wednesday.

However, he elaborated that the supervisory board’s role involved merely transmitting the decision made by the Metro District Court regarding deputy mayor candidate Qomaru Zaman. “We are only continuing the decision of the Metro District Court,” he elaborated, emphasizing the procedural adherence of Bawaslu’s actions.

The chairman indicated that the body will meticulously review the recent decision made by the Metro KPU, which disqualified the Wahdi-Qomaru candidate pair from participating in the upcoming 2024 Metro Pilkada election. “We are still reviewing the decision of the Metro City KPU which decided that the Metro Pilkada will only be contested by a single candidate,” he noted, hinting at potential implications for the electoral landscape in Metro.

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Metro City, situated in Lampung Province, announced the disqualification of the candidate pair Wahdi and Qomaru due to a serious breach of electoral law, as outlined in the legal framework governing regional elections.

According to the Metro KPU’s official statement released on Wednesday, this decisive cancellation stems from Bawaslu’s communication based on Metro City Bawaslu Letter Number 305/PP.00.02/Κ.ΙA-15/11/2024, dated November 10, 2024, which referenced a Metro City District Court Decision Number 191/Pid.Sus/2024/PN.Met from November 1, 2024.

This court ruling convincingly established that Drs. Qomaru Zaman, MA, was legally found guilty of an election-related crime as per the public prosecutor’s indictment, which carries the sanction of disqualifying a candidate pair from the elections.

The court’s ruling concluded with a fine of Rp. 6,000,000.00 (approximately six million rupiah), stating that failure to pay would result in a one-month imprisonment substitution. In light of this outcome, the Metro City KPU officially nullified the candidacy of dr. Wahdi, Sp.OG(K), MH, and Drs. Qomaru Zaman, MA, for the Metro election.

Consequently, the candidate pair for mayor and deputy mayor numbered 02 will not participate in the 2024 Metro Pilkada, highlighting a significant shift in the election landscape.

The announcement concerning the cancellation was disseminated via the Metro City KPU’s official website and social media platforms, marking a crucial step in maintaining electoral integrity.

This cancellation means that currently, there is only a single candidate pair eligible to participate in the election, conforming with the regulations governing the roles of the Deputy Governor, Regent, Deputy Regent, and Mayor & Deputy Mayor.

Metro City previously had two pairs of candidates for the upcoming elections: the pair of Bambang-Rafieq, numbered 1, and the Wahdi-Qomaru pair, numbered 2.

### Interview: Election Shenanigans in Metro⁣ City! 🗳️

**Interviewer:** Welcome, Iskardo P. Panggar, the Chairman of Bawaslu⁢ Lampung. Thank you for joining⁢ us to ‌clarify the recent developments in ‍the Metro‌ City elections. It⁣ seems like‌ every day brings new drama!

**Iskardo P. Panggar:** Thank ‍you for having me! Yes, as you’ve noted, it’s ‌certainly been a whirlwind of events.

**Interviewer:** Let’s dive right ⁢in. The cancellation of‍ the⁤ Wahdi-Qomaru Zaman candidate pair has‍ sparked quite a bit of ⁢chatter. You mentioned that Bawaslu never recommended their annulment. Can‌ you elaborate on this?

**Iskardo P. Panggar:** Absolutely. Our role at ⁢Bawaslu ⁣is to ensure compliance with electoral laws, and we simply transmitted⁤ the decision‍ from the Metro District‌ Court ⁢regarding‍ Qomaru Zaman’s conviction. We did not make any recommendations to cancel their candidacy; that was purely the KPU’s decision following our communication.

**Interviewer:** So the‌ KPU’s disqualification of this candidate pair was based on their ⁣serious ⁣breach of electoral law. How serious was it, and does this⁢ mean ⁢their campaign‍ is essentially over?

**Iskardo P. Panggar:**⁤ Yes, Qomaru Zaman was found guilty of electoral misconduct⁣ and subjected‌ to a substantial fine. ⁢This ruling from the court played a crucial role in the ⁣KPU’s decision to disqualify them. At this point, the implication is that they cannot participate in the upcoming elections, making ⁢it a very competitive race‌ with only one candidate now.

**Interviewer:** One candidate? That does sound a bit ⁢more like a one-act play than a democratic election! Do you think this ⁢lack ⁤of competition affects the electoral process in Metro City?

**Iskardo P. Panggar:** It certainly changes the dynamics. An ⁣election is healthiest when multiple candidates can contest, allowing for a richer dialog on policies and ‌governance. **Iskardo P. Panggar:** Thank you for ‌having me! It’s certainly going to be an interesting time for Metro City.
