Because the meteorologists from Denmark’s Meteorological Institute have no encouragement for motorists.
The weather will also be snow and sleet showers in the coming days.
– On the webcams I have seen, there is about two to three centimeters of snow in several places in North Jutland, says on-duty meteorologist Lone Dolmer from DMI.
– And the type of weather with snow and sleet showers that hit North Jutland last night will continue throughout the day in the areas from Thy and across Vendsyssel. It can be said that there will continue to be a risk of snow and sleet showers in the areas around and north of the Limfjord. How much will fall and where it will hit is a bit difficult to assess, says the meteorologist.
In northernmost North Jutland, there is also a risk of snow and sleet showers this evening and first at night.
How much snow will fall, the meteorologist dare not predict too firmly.
– If the showers fall close to each other in the same area, up to perhaps five centimeters of snow can easily fall – locally maybe even a little more. Because it will continue to be cold with between two minus degrees and two plus degrees – maybe a little warmer on the coasts. So when the snow doesn’t have time to thaw, new snow will lie on top, and then a smaller layer may well come, explains Lone Dolmer.
In the long run, this type of weather will continue up to and including Saturday, the meteorologist estimates.
– But here the forecasts are of course a little uncertain. From Sunday, the weather is expected to be slightly warmer, so it will turn into rain, says the prediction from Lone Dolmer.

What precautions should drivers take when traveling during severe weather conditions?
**Interview with Meteorologist Lars Jensen from Denmark’s Meteorological Institute**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Lars. There have been some important updates regarding the weather forecast that concern motorists in Denmark. Can you share the key points?
**Lars Jensen:** Thank you for having me. Yes, our latest forecasts indicate that we will experience very challenging weather conditions over the next few days. Particularly, we are anticipating heavy rainfall coupled with strong winds, which can create hazardous driving situations.
**Editor:** That sounds concerning. What specific advice do you have for motorists who may need to travel during this time?
**Lars Jensen:** We strongly advise motorists to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is essential, drivers should ensure their vehicles are in excellent condition, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and be particularly cautious on slippery roads. It’s crucial to stay updated with real-time weather alerts.
**Editor:** Are there any particular regions that are expected to be hit harder than others?
**Lars Jensen:** Yes, our forecasts suggest that coastal areas will face the brunt of the storms, with high winds and potential flooding. Inland areas will also experience significant rainfall but may not face the same wind intensity. Nonetheless, conditions can change rapidly, so monitoring local forecasts is essential.
**Editor:** With such warnings, what is the Meteorological Institute doing to keep the public informed?
**Lars Jensen:** We are continuously updating our forecasts and have multiple channels in place, including our website, social media platforms, and local radio. We encourage everyone to stay informed and heed any storm warnings or travel advisories.
**Editor:** Thank you for your insights, Lars. It’s crucial for everyone to remain vigilant during this time.
**Lars Jensen:** Absolutely. Safety should always come first, especially in severe weather conditions. Thank you for having me.
