How does Giorgos Gavrilos believe his resignation could influence discussions about the future direction of SYRIZA?
**Interview with Giorgos Gavrilos**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, Mr. Gavrilos. You recently submitted your resignation from your duties as a parliamentary representative of SYRIZA, but you’ll remain within the party. Can you elaborate on what prompted this decision and the dissatisfaction you expressed regarding the party’s direction over the last few months?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Thank you for having me. My resignation was a difficult but necessary decision. I’ve been troubled by certain choices made at the leadership level that I believe do not reflect the values and principles of our party. My discussions with President Nikos Pappa highlighted a rift I felt growing within our ranks.
**Interviewer:** It’s certainly a significant move. What do you hope to achieve by stepping down from your parliamentary role while still being part of SYRIZA?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** My aim is to continue contributing to the party from the inside, to hold discussions that can lead to positive changes. Sometimes stepping aside from a position of responsibility can allow for clearer thinking and a more effective way to address issues.
**Interviewer:** Given the turmoil within SYRIZA, some might argue that your resignation further complicates the party’s stability. Do you think this decision will foster a constructive debate within SYRIZA, or could it deepen divisions?
**Giorgos Gavrilos:** Change often comes with discomfort, but I believe it can lead to a healthier organization. It’s important that we engage in open discussions about our shortcomings and how we can rectify them. If handled well, my resignation might serve as a catalyst for such a dialogue.
**Interviewer:** This raises a compelling question for our readers: In light of your resignation and the broader challenges facing SYRIZA, do you believe internal dissent like this is ultimately beneficial for a political party, or does it risk fragmenting party unity? We’d love to hear what our audience thinks about how internal disagreements should be managed within political organizations.
