After the end of the individual season, it’s time for the final Billie Jean King Cup tournament, in which the Polish national team takes part! In the 1/8 finals, our tennis players defeated Spain 2-0. Then on Saturday they faced the Czechs. The Polish women will play for big money. Huge amounts
First, after an extremely difficult match, the WTA ranking runner-up defeated Linda Noskova 7:6, 4:6, 7:5, and then played together with Katarzyna Kawa. The Polish women – to the surprise of many experts and fans – defeated Maria Bouzkova and Katerina Siniakova in doubles 6:2, 6:4 and advanced to the semi-finals! – I was very excited about this match and I’m glad I played it with Iga. I’m glad we did it. It’s a great day – Kawa commented straight from the court.
Thanks to the victory, the Polish national team advanced to the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup. The Italians are waiting there, having defeated the Japanese 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Thus, our players have the opportunity to go down in the history of Polish tennis. Don’t forget about the reward they can get if they win!
After winning against the Czech Republic, the team led by Dawid Celt earned PLN 960,000. dollars, i.e. over PLN 3.9 million. If the Poles manage to defeat the Italians and advance to the final, they will be sure that their account will receive at least $1.4 million (over PLN 5.7 million) – this is the amount waiting for the runners-up. Nevertheless, the team led by Świątek is certainly aiming for the full prize. The winners of the Billie Jean King Cup 2024 tournament held in Malaga will receive as much as USD 2.4 million, i.e. over PLN 9.8 million, from the organizers. This amount can really make an impression.
The match between Poland and Italy in the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup will take place on Monday, November 18 at 17:00. “It won’t be easy, it must be admitted. If it were the Czech Republic, we would see a very complete team, without a real star (Krejcikova and Muchova are missing), but with several excellent players and a doubles with Siniakova, which is worth paying attention to. Instead, there are Poles, and with them Iga Świątek” – write the media of our closest rivals. In the second semi-final, the British will play against Slovakia.
