Tierschutz Austria is once again calling for an animal Christmas campaign – over 60 individual wish lists are waiting
Christmas is just around the corner, and the animals at the Vösendorf animal shelter should not be forgotten either. With the annual Christkind campaign by Tierschutz Austriawhich runs from November 18th to December 23rd this year, animal lovers can fulfill their Christmas wishes for the animals in the animal shelter.
“This campaign is something very special, especially for our long-sitters who have been waiting for a new home for more than a year,” explains Stephan Scheidl, animal shelter manager of the Tierschutz Austria animal shelter in Vösendorf. Around 60 protégés – from cats and dogs to small animals such as rabbits, farm animals, wild animals and exotic animals – have wishes that are now waiting to be fulfilled by generous donors.
This is how the Christkind campaign works:
- Visit the website at www.christkind-aktion.at.
- Select an animal from the overview.
- Sign up to receive the pet’s wish list and matching gift tag via email.
- Get one or more of your protégé’s wishes and bring the gifts in person or send them to the animal shelter (Triester Straße 8, 2331 Vösendorf) personally by post or directly from the online shop.
The presentation of the gifts is documented and the joy of the animals is evident Christkind picture gallery on the website and on the social media channels of Tierschutz Austria.
“Our Christkind campaign is not only a nice way to do something good, but also a very special type of donation where you can see first hand how much joy it brings,” emphasizes Scheidl.

What specific items are most requested on the wish lists from the animals at Tierschutz Austria’s shelter this year?
**Interview with Stephan Scheidl, Animal Shelter Manager at Tierschutz Austria**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Stephan. The Christkind campaign has become a wonderful tradition for animal lovers. Can you tell us how this year’s campaign aims to help the animals at the Vösendorf animal shelter?
**Stephan Scheidl:** Absolutely! This year’s campaign runs from November 18th to December 23rd, and we have over 60 individual wish lists from our animals at the shelter. The goal is to allow animal lovers to fulfill both small and large wishes for our residents, especially our long-term inhabitants who have been waiting for a loving home for more than a year.
**Editor:** That sounds incredible! What types of wishes can donors choose from?
**Stephan Scheidl:** The wishes vary widely and include gifts for a range of animals—from dogs and cats to rabbits, farm animals, wild animals, and even some exotic pets. For instance, a dog might wish for a new toy, while a rabbit might need a cozy blanket. Each animal has its unique needs, and we want to provide them with a special surprise this Christmas.
**Editor:** How can people get involved and contribute to the campaign?
**Stephan Scheidl:** It’s very easy! Interested donors can visit our website at [www.tierschutz-austria.at/christkindaktion](http://www.tierschutz-austria.at/christkindaktion). There, they can browse the individual wish lists and select gifts to purchase. It’s a great way to bring joy to the animals and show them that they are loved and remembered during the holiday season.
**Editor:** That’s wonderful. It must be particularly touching for those long-sitters to receive gifts. Any success stories from previous campaigns that you would like to share?
**Stephan Scheidl:** Yes, we’ve had some heartwarming experiences. Many animals that received gifts through the campaign have found loving homes shortly after. It really seems to boost their spirits and visibility. It’s inspiring to see how a simple gift can make such a profound difference in their lives.
**Editor:** Thank you, Stephan, for your insights and for all the work you do at the shelter. We wish you great success with this year’s Christkind campaign!
**Stephan Scheidl:** Thank you! We’re excited for another successful campaign and appreciate the support from our community.
