KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 18): Rehabilitation efforts designed for children rescued under Op Global, executed in collaboration with GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB), encompass a thorough and multifaceted approach. This initiative aims to address key areas including faith, professional counselling, instilling patriotism, providing education, and imparting necessary skills, according to the information shared in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar elaborated on the overarching focus of these efforts, which not only strive for the well-being of the children but also emphasize the critical importance of reuniting these young individuals with their parents and families, fostering a sense of belonging and stability in their lives.
To ensure a successful reintegration into society, rehabilitation measures include the involvement of qualified experts who are committed to addressing the specific needs of these children. This comprehensive strategy aims to mitigate the risk of trauma that may arise from their distressing experiences as victims of GISB, creating a supportive environment where they can heal.
“These rehabilitation efforts require the dedication and commitment of various parties to ensure that these children are not neglected and can resume normal lives in society,” he emphasized during a question-and-answer session, underscoring the collective responsibility in aiding these vulnerable children.
Mohd Na’im was responding to a supplementary question posed by Zakri Hassan (PN-Kangar), who inquired specifically about the measures in place to assist these children regarding their trauma risks, highlighting the significant concerns surrounding their mental and emotional recovery post-rescue.
In addressing Zakri’s original question about the procedural steps being undertaken to tackle issues associated with GISB, Mohd Na’im outlined the enhanced strategic collaboration. This includes key entities such as the National Security Council, the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, the Home Ministry, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Police, and relevant state religious authorities, all working in tandem to ensure comprehensive support for the affected children.
