Additionally, the Postal Service confirmed that legendary musician Allen Toussaint will be commemorated with a stamp in the Black Heritage series. This ongoing collection has honored figures from various backgrounds, alternating between male and female artists, and Toussaint’s tribute will mark the 48th addition.
Describing the late Toussaint, who left this world in 2015, the Postal Service recognized him as a “virtuoso pianist, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, and producer responsible for scores of hits across multiple genres.”
The stamp featuring Toussaint incorporates a striking 2007 photo taken by Bill Tompkins, with the design crafted by Ethel Kessler, also an art director within the Postal Service.
Other anticipated 2025 stamp offerings include a love-themed design inspired by artist Keith Haring, a vibrant Lunar New Year stamp celebrating the year of the snake, and a delightful collection featuring baby wild animals.
“This early glimpse into our 2025 stamp program demonstrates our commitment to providing a diverse range of subjects and designs for both philatelists and stamp enthusiasts,” said Lisa Bobb-Semple, who serves as the Postal Service’s stamp services director.
