The Creative Showdown: ONE Asia Creative Awards 2024 Finalists Announced
In a dazzling spectacle of ingenuity and flair, the ONE Asia Creative Awards 2024 has revealed its finalists, spotlighting creative work from an impressive 13 countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific. It’s like the Olympics, but for people who think Ideation is a sport. Except, you know, without the doping scandals. Unless you count over-caffeinated copywriters.
This prestigious event, overseen by The One Club for Creativity, celebrates the crème de la crème of creative work from the APAC region, shining a light on the talent that makes us laugh, cry, and sometimes question our life choices. This year’s venue was Manila—an exciting change of scenery, proving that the only thing more thrilling than great creativity is a little bit of geographical risk-taking!
Judging: A Cultural Showcase
Creative leaders from 14 different countries donned their judging hats, and in true Asia-Pacific style, the competition together has created a sense of camaraderie among creatives. Because nothing says “I support local talent” more than arguing about color palettes and font choices over a few beers.
Leading the Charge in Creativity
Cheil Hong Kong is taking the crown this year with 11 finalists. They’ve impressively strutted their stuff with campaigns like, ‘The Sound of Violence’ for Save the Children. Because if you can’t grab their attention with sound, then… well, maybe just grab their heartstrings. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always a cat video.
Leo Burnett India Mumbai, not wanting to be left behind in this race of creative juggernauts, boasts nine finalists. They’ve whipped up some eye-catching work, including campaigns like Gatorade’s ‘Turf Finder’ and Lay’s ‘Drop for Joy’. If only finding joy in the bottom of a Lay’s bag was a sport; they’d win all the medals!
Not to be outdone, Wolf BKK Bangkok also claims nine finalists, thanks to their teamwork with Suneta House Bangkok for the ‘Go for Launch’ campaign on behalf of CP Chicken. Yes, you heard it right—chicken and creativity, proving once again that great ideas can come from anywhere…including your dinner plate!
Who’s Got the Finalists?
Singapore reigns supreme with a staggering 29 finalists this year, followed by Thailand with 27, and India with a robust 21. Australia’s got 15—and we suspect they’re all sipping flat whites whilst brainstorming ideas. Mainland China contributes 14 finalists to this creative smorgasbord, while Hong Kong SAR and Japan each serve up 13. The Philippines, Taiwan, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and even Pakistan—all show up to the fancy awards dinner with their creative flair!
A Global Creative Rankings Bonanza!
The winning agencies will not only bring home trophies (which look great on a mantle), but the winners will also find themselves on the ONE Asia Creative Rankings and even The One Club’s Global Creative Rankings. It’s like getting a gold star in school but with more pompoms and fewer spelling tests!

What inspired the decision to shift the judging process for the ONE Asia Creative Awards 2024 to Manila?
**Interview with Maya Lim, Creative Director at The One Club for Creativity**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Maya! The announcement of the ONE Asia Creative Awards 2024 finalists has created quite a buzz across the Asia-Pacific region. Can you tell us what makes this year’s awards particularly special?
**Maya Lim:** Absolutely! This year is unique not just because of the incredible talent we’re seeing, but also due to the shift to Manila for the judging process. It’s the first time the in-person evaluation was held outside China, allowing us to showcase the vibrant culture and creativity of the Philippines. This rotational venue concept truly highlights the diverse artistic flair across the region.
**Editor:** It sounds exciting! We’ve seen a remarkable number of finalists, particularly from countries like Singapore and Thailand. What do you think this says about the creative landscape in Asia-Pacific?
**Maya Lim:** The statistics speak volumes about the incredible talent that’s thriving in the APAC region. With Singapore leading the pack with 29 finalists, followed closely by Thailand and India, it illustrates how much innovation and creativity are flourishing here. These awards celebrate not only individual accomplishments but also the strength of collaboration across borders, fostering a sense of community in our creative industries.
**Editor:** Cheil Hong Kong seems to be leading the charge this year with 11 finalists! Their campaign for Save the Children, ‘The Sound of Violence,’ has caught particular attention. What impact do you think such powerful campaigns have on the industry?
**Maya Lim:** Campaigns like ‘The Sound of Violence’ push boundaries and force us to confront important social issues through creative expression. They remind us that creativity is not just about aesthetics; it’s about storytelling and impact. Such powerful work inspires others in the industry to elevate their craft and use their platforms for change, which can lead to wider societal influence.
**Editor:** The competition fostered a sense of camaraderie among creatives from 14 countries during the judging process. How important is this aspect of support in the creative community?
**Maya Lim:** It’s crucial! The creative industry can be competitive, but moments like these—where we bring together diverse voices and perspectives—create meaningful connections and collaborations. The exchange of ideas, even those heated discussions over color palettes, enhances our understanding of creativity itself. It’s a reminder that we’re all in this journey together, supporting and challenging one another to grow.
**Editor:** Before we wrap up, for those eager to see who takes home the trophies this year, when can they find out the winners?
**Maya Lim:** The winners will be announced online on December 9, 2024. It’s going to be a fantastic celebration of creativity, so I encourage everyone to stay tuned!
**Editor:** Thank you so much for your insights, Maya. We look forward to the awards and celebrating the exceptional talent across the Asia-Pacific!
