To further expand the global footprint of its groundbreaking health and wellness applications, Canada-based Myant Corp., a leading provider of advanced healthcare materials, today announced the acquisition of Nanoleq and Osmotex, two leading textile computing companies Based in Switzerland. Zurich has been selected as the headquarters for Myant’s EU and EMEA expansion. These acquisitions will add valuable talent to the company and further consolidate Myant’s leadership position in textile technology. By entering the market and expanding into Europe, Myant is realizing its goal of becoming a global leader in advanced healthcare materials and setting a new standard for connecting people with people and technology.
Nanoleq: a leading Swiss company specializing in smart textiles and biosensor technologies
This strategic acquisition supports Myant’s goal of advancing the future of connected health by integrating Nanoleq’s advanced sensing capabilities into its growing medical device portfolio.
Both companies have a vision to shift the paradigm of healthcare towards prevention and help people by enabling long-term monitoring through textile computer interfaces and clinical data beyond the hospital into the home. Nanoleq’s innovative work in the development of elastic electrical cables, dry electrodes and biosensing technologies is particularly evident in the flagship model Oxa. Oxa allows users to monitor their respiratory function, ECG, heart rate variability (HRV) and stress levels using its state-of-the-art sensor system and receive real-time feedback on their vital signs to improve their physical and mental well-being.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Nanoleq to the Myant Group,” said Tony Chahine, CEO of Myant. “This acquisition is a critical milestone in our journey to transform healthcare by integrating intelligence into the fabric of everyday life. Health is at the heart of a productive life, and Myant is now ready to further advance the development of innovative personalized medical solutions that enable individuals to proactively monitor their health. The Nanoleq team shares our vision and will support our efforts European and European markets to enter the Middle East will continue to accelerate.”
“Very few companies have succeeded in producing reliable, medically safe, intelligent textiles. Myant’s acquisition of Nanoleq therefore marks an exciting new chapter for us and will help us to significantly scale our activities,” comments Vincent Martinez, CEO at Nanoleq. “The combination of Nanoleq’s expertise in electrically conductive silicones for biosensing With Myant’s medical expertise, this acquisition is a logical step. Both companies agree that our healthcare model is outdated. People need to be empowered to learn about their health before they get sick. All members of our society benefit from improved prevention.
Osmotex: advanced technologies for moisture and fluid management in textiles and medicine
Myant also acquired the technologies of the Swiss deep tech company Osmotex after a joint venture phase. These technologies enable precise control of moisture and particles in individual microchannels as well as in membranes and textiles with billions of such channels or pores.
For textiles and garments, the technology offers an “electronically controlled breathable membrane” that can withstand human sweat rates in the most extreme conditions. This innovation represents a breakthrough for protective clothing and first aid clothing. It acts like a second skin and increases the physiological comfort, performance and safety of the wearer.
In the medical field, Osmotex fabrics will similarly be used as a second skin for optimal wound healing and as next-generation drug delivery systems. Diagnostic applications through the collection, separation and analysis of liquids are also being developed.
“The Osmotex technology is a milestone in the field of moisture and fluid management,” reports Tony Chahine, CEO at Myant. “The technology acts like a second skin and directly influences the physiological and microclimatic conditions of the wearer. Whether in intelligent wound dressings for a rapid healing or in firefighter uniforms to avoid dangerous heat exposure – it removes the limitations of current variants that extract moisture directly from the air, opening up further possibilities, with significant potential for energy savings and reduction of material wear.”
“With Myant, we are now able to maximize the benefits of our technologies,” explains Trond Heldal, CEO of Myant Swiss and former CEO of Osmotex. “We have developed a unique solid-state pump technology based on state-of-the-art materials science and technology “In Myant, we have gained an equally unique partner who covers the value chain from its 17,000 square meter state-of-the-art materials laboratories through manufacturing to integration into a variety of finished products and services.”
