Torreón, Coahuila de Zaragoza; to November 16, 2024.- With the aim of bringing health services closer to the people of Coahuila, the Ministry of Health carried out another vaccination day at the Torreón Convention Center, where this weekend more than a thousand people with the application of vaccines against influenza and covid.
Rodrigo González Fernández, director of the Convention Center, announced that they are working as a team to bring health services closer to the populations.
“This is an initiative of Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas who is supporting us in everything, as well as the Ministry of Health that brings the equipment, nurses, supplies and today it has been a success here at the Convention Center.”
This is the third time that a similar vaccination has been carried out at the Torreón Convention Center for the benefit of all the inhabitants of the north of the City of Torreón, since that has been the instruction of the State President, he insisted.
From very early on the population began to arrive to receive the biological, so the official recognized that the Convention Center is gaining momentum with this strategy for the benefit of the lagoon residents.
“We have already started to gain some momentum with this strategy, we bring an average application of 1,100 people per session and this is our third time that we provide care.”
He warned this strategy could be carried out once or twice a month from now until March, which is the deadline for the influenza vaccination campaign, which depends on the number of people who request the service in this space.
When this vaccination is carried out on Saturday, the girls and boys benefit the most, since during the week it is difficult for them to go to a hospital or health center, since they are studying, he highlighted, in addition to the fact that many of the parents do not work on Saturday. Saturday and that makes it easier for them to come.
He invited the population to follow the Convention Center on their social networks, since there they announce the following vaccinations or other services that they are planning, such as providing care to people with diabetes, people with eye problems, vaccinate and deworm dogs and cats, which would be announced soon.
People from neighborhoods such as Senderos, Alebrijes, Hacienda del Rosario, Valle de Los Almendros and the El Perú, La Partida and La Unión ejidos, among others, attended the vaccination.
Torreón’s Vaccination Day: A Shot in the Arm for Health Services!
Ladies and gentlemen, gather ’round! This weekend, the Torreón Convention Center transformed into a veritable health haven, an impromptu medical fiesta if you will, as more than a thousand residents rolled up their sleeves to receive their vaccines against influenza and COVID-19. That’s right, folks, over a thousand people dodging flu shots like they were dodging their last Tinder date—talk about commitment!
Now, let’s give a big hand to Rodrigo González Fernández, the head honcho of the Convention Center, who announced that this little health jamboree was all about teamwork. Teamwork, people! It’s just like that group project in school where one person does all the work, and the rest of you show up for the free snacks. We know how it goes!
Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas is apparently the cheerleader behind this vaccination initiative, reminding us all that health services are not just for those fancy hospitals—no, they should be accessible to everyone, like a Netflix account shared amongst friends. So, a big thumbs up for bringing health services closer to the people of Coahuila! If only solving the mystery of missing socks could be tackled with the same flair.
This was not just a flash in the pan either; believe it or not, this was the third vaccination day the center hosted. Clearly, they’ve got a system down pat! I mean, when you’ve got more momentum than a toddler at a birthday party—seriously, just imagine the chaos—it’s bound to be a success. They’re averaging around 1,100 people per session, which is impressive unless they’re all just there for the free pens.
And mark your calendars, because this strategy isn’t just a one-off. They’re aiming for up to twice a month until March, and let’s be honest, when is the last time our social calendars were packed like a vaccination schedule? It might even give you a good excuse to swipe left on that weekend wedding you weren’t really looking forward to.
Now, let’s talk logistics—this Saturday bonanza is particularly beneficial for families. With school kids tied up all week with algebra and “who stole my lunch?”, weekends give them the perfect chance to pop in for a jab. And the parents? Well, many of them aren’t working on Saturdays, freeing up their schedules like a Netflix binge on a rainy day!
You heard it here first, folks! The Convention Center isn’t stopping there. They’re planning to expand their offerings, like helping those poor souls dealing with diabetes, eye problems, and even a spiffy little pet care day to vaccinate and deworm your dog and cat. Because let’s be real, they deserve healthcare too—after all, they’re probably living a better life than we are!
So, if you’re living in neighborhoods like Senderos, Alebrijes, Hacienda del Rosario, or even the outskirts where the WiFi signal struggles, don’t miss out on these initiatives! It’s a perfect chance to get your family vaccinated while having a chat with your neighbors about how they always borrow your lawnmower but never return it.

Now, joining us today is Rodrigo González Fernández, Director of the Torreón Convention Center. Thank you for being here, Rodrigo!
**Interviewer:** Rodrigo, it’s great to have you. Can you tell us what motivated the decision to hold these vaccination days at the Convention Center?
**Rodrigo González Fernández:** Thank you for having me! The primary motivation comes from a desire to bring health services closer to our community, especially since many families find it challenging to access hospitals during the week due to work and school commitments. Our strategy allows us to serve residents more effectively, making vaccinations accessible for everyone.
**Interviewer:** That’s a fantastic initiative. You mentioned this was the third vaccination day you’ve hosted. What improvements or changes have you noticed since the first one?
**Rodrigo González Fernández:** Absolutely! Each session has seen an increase in attendance, and we’ve refined our processes each time to make everything run smoother. Initially, we had around 800 people, and now we’re averaging over 1,100 per session. The community has really responded well, and we’re excited to see such engagement!
**Interviewer:** Impressive growth! I understand that the vaccinations primarily benefit children, as weekends are more accessible for families. How has that impacted turnout?
**Rodrigo González Fernández:** It’s made a significant difference! Many parents work during the week, and children have school, so Saturdays become a perfect opportunity for families to come together for vaccinations without the stress of fitting it in around their busy schedules.
**Interviewer:** That’s very thoughtful. What can residents expect moving forward? Will there be more health services available?
**Rodrigo González Fernández:** Yes, definitely! Besides vaccinations, we’re planning to offer additional health services, like diabetes check-ups and eye screenings, and even veterinary services for pets. We encourage residents to follow us on social media for updates on upcoming services and schedules.
**Interviewer:** Fantastic! Thank you so much, Rodrigo. It’s heartwarming to see such initiatives in action, providing essential health services to the community.
**Rodrigo González Fernández:** Thank you! It’s our pleasure to serve the people of Torreón, and I hope to see even more residents join us at future events!
**Interviewer:** We hope so too! Thank you again for sharing these insights, Rodrigo. And there you have it, folks! Stay tuned for more opportunities to embrace a healthier future right here in Torreón!
