By default, the native app Telephone (Phone) your iPhone can send a standard greeting message to calls you don’t answer, using the feature called Voicemail.
However, it is fully possible to change this greeting to a voice message that you prefer — with your voice, instead of the default one provided by Apple. See how to change that!
How to use Live Voicemail on iPhone
Please note that this depends on the cell phone provider you use. In our tests, the tutorial worked well on the Vivo operator.
Open the Phone app and tap the “Voicemail” tab. Then select “Greeting” (in the top right corner).
Choose “Custom” and then “Record” to start recording the message itself.

**Interview with Tech Expert Jordan Smith on Personalizing Voicemail Greetings on iPhone**
*By [Your Name], News Editor*
**[Your Name]:** Thank you for joining us today, Jordan! Recently, we’ve seen a surge in interest regarding voicemail features on the iPhone, specifically the ability to customize greetings. Can you explain how users can personalize their voicemail greeting?
**Jordan Smith:** Absolutely! The process is quite straightforward. Users simply go into the Phone app, navigate to the Voicemail section, and tap on “Greeting.” From there, they can select “Custom” to record their personal greeting. It’s a great way to add a personal touch and make your voicemail stand out!
**[Your Name]:** That sounds easy enough! What are some reasons someone might want to change their default voicemail greeting?
**Jordan Smith:** There are plenty of reasons! Some people prefer a more casual tone, while others might want to include specific instructions for callers. Personal greetings can also help convey personality, making it clear to callers who they’re trying to reach, especially in professional settings.
**[Your Name]:** Interesting! I’ve also heard about the “Live Voicemail” feature. How does that differ from the standard voicemail service?
**Jordan Smith:** Live Voicemail is a fantastic feature that allows users to see a real-time transcription of their voicemail while the caller is leaving it. This gives you the option to decide if you want to pick up the call in the middle of the greeting. It’s a game-changer for managing important calls without having to listen to lengthy messages later.
**[Your Name]:** That does sound like a time-saver! Are there any best practices you recommend for recording a voicemail greeting?
**Jordan Smith:** Yes! Keep it brief and clear. Make sure to state your name and any relevant information, like when you’ll be available to return calls. It’s also wise to maintain a friendly tone that reflects your personality. Remember, first impressions matter!
**[Your Name]:** Great tips! Lastly, what do you think is the most overlooked feature on the iPhone voicemail system?
**Jordan Smith:** Most users don’t take full advantage of the visual voicemail feature. It allows you to see a list of your messages and choose which ones to listen to. This can save a lot of time, especially if you receive many calls throughout the day. It’s a handy tool that really enhances the voicemail experience.
**[Your Name]:** Thank you for your insights, Jordan! Personalizing voicemail seems more accessible than ever, and features like Live Voicemail are exciting advancements for iPhone users.
**Jordan Smith:** Thanks for having me! It’s always a pleasure to discuss how technology can improve our communication.
**[Your Name]:** We appreciate your time!
