An investigation is presently underway following the shocking discovery of a woman’s body located in the boot of a car parked in East London, as confirmed by local police authorities.
Northamptonshire Police announced that they are launching a comprehensive murder inquiry into the alarming and “suspicious” circumstances surrounding the grim finding in Ilford.
Superintendent Steve Freeman revealed that the deceased woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, hails from Corby in Northamptonshire and may have tragically fallen victim to a “targeted incident.”
Detectives from both the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s major crime team and the Metropolitan Police are actively collaborating to delve deeper into the case.
The police were alerted on Wednesday by a concerned member of the public regarding the welfare of the woman, prompting immediate action.
In an official statement, Superintendent Steve Freeman detailed: “On Wednesday, November 13, Northamptonshire Police were contacted by a member of the public regarding a concern for the welfare of a woman in Corby. Fast-track enquiries were made which sadly led to the discovery of a woman’s body inside the boot of a vehicle in the Ilford area of London.”
“We are treating the death as suspicious and a murder investigation has been launched. Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team and the Metropolitan Police have been working at pace to establish the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.”
