NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — On a lively Thursday evening, Gracie Mansion in New York City hosted a festive reception honoring the remarkable 20-year legacy of the New York Comedy Festival, an event that has become synonymous with laughter and creativity in the city’s vibrant arts scene.
This illustrious gathering showcased the presence of Caroline Hirsch, the visionary founder and owner of the iconic New York Comedy Festival, alongside Mayor Eric Adams, who extended his support, as well as numerous acclaimed comedians and notable special guests who have shaped the festival’s history.
Finalists from “New York’s Funniest Stand-Up,” the city’s prestigious annual stand-up comedy competition, graced the event, bringing together the brightest talents in the comedic landscape.
During the festivities, Mayor Adams honored Hirsch, the longtime proprietor of the legendary “Caroline’s on Broadway,” with a special proclamation, commending her for initiating the festival in 2004 as a heartfelt response to the challenges faced in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy, a initiative aimed at helping to revitalize the city.
Over the years, the festival has flourished, featuring an impressive lineup of more than 200 comedians performing in over 100 shows across various venues throughout all five boroughs, highlighting the city’s unparalleled comedic talent.
