CORVALLIS, Ore. – In a remarkable show of support for collegiate sports, Judy and Jim Street have generously donated to the OSU Foundation, establishing a permanent endowment dedicated to the prestigious position of the Oregon State Wicks-Street Head Men’s Soccer Coach. This philanthropic effort marks only the second head coaching endowment in the history of Oregon State, joining the esteemed Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach endowment.
Oregon State Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Scott Barnes, expressed profound gratitude for the Streets’ contribution, stating, “All of us at Oregon State want to thank Judy and Jim Street for this generous gift to our athletic department and specifically the men’s soccer program. The Street family has been loyal and dedicated supporters of Oregon State University and Beaver Athletics for several decades, and this new endowment will benefit our student-athletes to continue their success on and off the field in perpetuity.”
This groundbreaking gift ensures that funds will be allocated indefinitely for the head coach, allowing them to address the program’s pressing needs, significantly impacting student-athletes’ training, travel arrangements, and overall well-being.
Greg Dalby, the Wicks-Street Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Oregon State, conveyed heartfelt appreciation, stating, “On behalf of our program, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Judy and Jim Street for this incredible gift to Oregon State men’s soccer. Their generosity ensures that so many more young men will experience all the value that comes along with being a student-athlete at Oregon State.” Dalby further emphasized, “Our mission, as a program, is to compete at the highest level of college soccer, develop players and people who will be successful on and off the field, and to create a culture where our players love being here. This gift secures our program’s future and allows us to double down on what matters most to Oregon State Soccer.”
The Oregon State men’s soccer team made headlines last season, achieving their first-ever appearance in the coveted College Cup and has impressively advanced to postseason competition for four consecutive years. Under Coach Dalby’s leadership, the Beavers boast a record of 21 wins, 9 losses, and 8 draws, as they prepare to conclude their regular season this Saturday against Portland at Merlo Field.
Judy Street, an alumna of Oregon State and an honorary trustee on the OSU Foundation’s Board of Trustees, along with her husband, Jim, a graduate from the University of Michigan, have long been staunch supporters of Beaver Athletics. Their commitment is evident as they hold football season tickets and have backed important projects like the Paul Lorenz Field grandstand. Their support also extends to the College of Engineering at OSU, honoring Judy’s uncle, Charles Wicks, who was both a graduate and a tenured professor. The couples have nurtured a profound devotion to soccer for over 50 years, underscoring their passion for the sport and its community.
“It is our hope that this gift will enable Oregon State men’s soccer to continue to attract gifted student-athletes and coaches,” Judy Street stated emphatically. “It is our belief that success in athletic programs benefits all aspects of higher education.”
Shawn L. Scoville, president and CEO of the Oregon State University Foundation, acknowledged the significance of the Streets’ contribution, asserting, “Judy and Jim’s strategic investment in this endowed head coach position for men’s soccer will make a difference for generations to come. Their gift also comes on the heels of the Ricci family’s endowed gifts for men’s and women’s basketball. These gifts are statements about the excellence and importance of Athletics at OSU. We are grateful.”
