All possessions sold

Bitcoin has reached a record peak. The most famous cryptocurrency in the world has doubled in value this year and is now worth around $90,000. And that is good news for the family of Didi Taihuttu (46) from Venlo. They sold all their possessions in 2017 and have been living entirely off the ‘bitcoin standard’ ever since. “The house we sold for 100 bitcoins, we could now buy for 5 bitcoins.”
Since Republican Donald Trump’s victory in the American presidential election, the digital currency has been breaking record after record. Trump has promised looser regulation of cryptocurrencies and wants to make the United States the crypto capital of the world.
The coin is now worth almost 90,000 dollars, the equivalent of about 85,000 euros. To make the increase clear: at the beginning of last week, bitcoin was ‘only’ worth about $68,000.
Visited dozens of countries
Didi Taihuttu has been living completely according to the ‘bitcoin standard’ with his wife and three daughters since 2017. This means that they have sold all their possessions, from their house to their clothes, and apart from bitcoins, they no longer have ‘normal’ money. They can pay with bitcoin using regular credit and debit cards, just like most people do with their debit card. The settlement (bitcoin versus euro, for example) is done automatically.
In the past eight years they have visited 43 countries and are currently enjoying Thailand, one of their favorite countries.

They chose this way of life after the death of both Didi’s parents. His mother when she was 48 years old and his father a few years later. “Then you will realize that time is a much more important unit of value than money,” Didi tells RTL News.
“We live minimalistically, without possessions and luxury items and simply live a beautiful and free life.” Money is also not their motivation, says Didi. “We enjoy each other and all the time we have. The fact that our capital is growing is all well and good, but the core is to live our lives.”
Fireworks and party
Yet the record peak of bitcoin has not gone unnoticed by the family. Last week they came together with some others bitcoin-familieswhen the digital currency was hovering around $84,000 in value. “On that night, bitcoin shot to $87,000,” says Didi. They celebrated it well with fireworks, drinks and a party at a beach club.
He is confident that bitcoin will increase in value even further. According to him, the cryptocurrency has a four-year cycle and he expects the next peak at the end of next year. Didi is not worried about it either: the family locks up the majority of the bitcoins for the long term, and the family ‘plays’ with a small part. With that small part they pay for their daily necessities. They can also use it to sell during a peak – like now.
There are no concrete plans yet for if the bitcoin continues to increase in value. For example, in the past the family has gone skiing for a month and a half and then gone to Mexico for a month, but those trips were not dependent on the status of the bitcoin. “But,” says Didi, laughing, “if Bitcoin exceeds $100,000, a good party will be organized at my expense.”

The Bitcoin Adventure: Didi Taihuttu and Family’s Journey
Ah, Bitcoin—the digital gold that makes everyone feel like a financial wizard or a complete fool depending on the day. Well, hold onto your hats because Didi Taihuttu and his family from Venlo have taken their investment strategy to the next level: they sold all their possessions! That’s right, folks: in 2017, Didi and his family opted for the ‘Bitcoin standard’ over a nice cozy house. I guess you could say they’re living the “minimalist” dream… if minimalism meant travelling the world and having parties when cryptocurrency spikes!
The Bitcoin Boom
Bitcoin has hit a record peak of $90,000. Yes, you heard it right! This family sold their house for 100 bitcoins, which has now plummeted in comparison to today’s market—meaning they could now buy it back for just 5 bitcoins. Talk about a bargain! If only wished-for-deals applied to everything. Someone grab a time machine!
And it seems that the excitement didn’t start with just any market fluctuation. Since the beguiling victory of Trump in the U.S. presidential election, Bitcoin has been breaking records left and right, promising to turn the U.S. into the “crypto capital.” The Trump administration has taken more liberties with crypto than some of us ever dared!
A Familial Revolution
Didi’s family has swapped the usual suburban life for a whimsical globe-trotting escapade, visiting a staggering 43 countries since their lifestyle switch. The family currently finds themselves lounging in Thailand, undoubtedly sipping some coconut water while reflecting on their life choices—or perhaps just planning their next lavish blockchain party!
Life as they know it changed dramatically after suffering two tragic losses in the family. Didi articulated, “Time is a much more important unit of value than money.” Deep, isn’t it? But let’s be honest, I’ve heard the same from buddies lamenting over their golf memberships!
Celebration Central
Apparently, the Taihuttus have thrown a few bitcoin-themed bashes recently. When Bitcoin peaked last week at around $87,000, they celebrated it with fireworks and a party. I can already envision it now: joyfully tossing bitcoins in the air while lighting firecrackers—the perfect recipe for marital bliss. What can say? Just what family life looks like when your wealth is determined by digital coins!
In terms of their investment strategy, they’re not playing fast and loose. Instead, Didi keeps most of their Bitcoins on lock—who’d have thought that cashing in your chips could make you feel like a bank locked behind closed doors? They’ve been known to go skiing or holidaying in Mexico for a month. But the other lesson here is that a 100k Bitcoin threshold will definitely lead to more celebrations. He did say, “if it surpasses $100,000, a good party will be organized at my expense.” We can only wonder if he’s creating a new “Bitcoin Bonanza” festival!
A Meet-up with Beau
What’s the cherry on top of this surreal family narrative? Didi had a sit-down with Beau van Erven Dorens earlier this year, highlighting the growing trend of families embracing cryptocurrencies. They’ve truly gone from zero to multi-millionaires, and they certainly seem to enjoy every minute of it!
For your reading pleasure, might I say: if this whole cryptocurrency thing doesn’t pan out—at least we can all agree they’ve achieved a riveting “experience over possession” mantra which, while terribly enviable, would be significantly less entertaining without a solid Wi-Fi connection!
Final Thoughts
So, what’s next for the Taihuttus? The sky’s the limit—or perhaps just the next Bitcoin peak. At the end of the day, they remind us to value family time over materialistic pursuits, a poignant message that rings true even amid their high-flying lifestyle. But let’s be real, if I had a substantial crypto wallet, I’d probably never work a day in my life. And isn’t that what we all dream of? Cheers to the Taihuttus—the real-life version of a financial fairy tale!
Bitcoin has reached a staggering record peak, now valued at approximately $90,000. This remarkable growth, which has seen the world’s most renowned cryptocurrency double in value this year, brings exciting news for Didi Taihuttu (46) from Venlo. Since 2017, Didi and his family made a bold decision to sell all their possessions and embrace a lifestyle entirely driven by the ‘bitcoin standard.’ “The house we sold for 100 bitcoins could now be repurchased for just 5 bitcoins,” Didi shares.
Since Donald Trump’s ascension to the presidency, the digital currency has been on an unprecedented upward trajectory, consistently breaking records. Trump has pledged to relax cryptocurrency regulations and aims to establish the United States as the preeminent hub for crypto innovations.
Visited dozens of countries
Didi Taihuttu has fully immersed himself in the ‘bitcoin standard’ alongside his wife and three daughters. They have relinquished all possessions, including their home and clothing, and now live solely on bitcoins, forsaking traditional currency. Their transactions are effortlessly executed through conventional credit and debit cards that seamlessly convert bitcoin into the local currency, such as euros, automatically.
Throughout the past eight years, the Taihuttu family has explored 43 countries and is currently savoring their time in Thailand, one of their favorite destinations.
After the untimely deaths of both of Didi’s parents—his mother at just 48 and his father shortly thereafter—the family made their life-altering transformation. “These experiences led me to understand that time holds far greater significance than money,” Didi explains to RTL Nieuws.
They live life with minimalist principles, shunning materialism for the richness of experience. “While our financial assets are increasing, our true motivation lies in cherishing each moment together,” he asserts, emphasizing that their joy transcends financial gains.
Fireworks and party
The recent bitcoin milestone has certainly captured the family’s attention. Just last week, they gathered with fellow cryptocurrency enthusiasts when the digital coin reached around $84,000. “On that night, bitcoin surged to an impressive $87,000,” shares Didi. Their celebration was filled with fireworks, drinks, and a vibrant party at a popular beach club.
Didi remains optimistic about bitcoin’s future growth, believing in a cyclical trend for the cryptocurrency. He anticipates another peak by the end of the following year. The family maintains a long-term strategy, securing the majority of their bitcoins for future gains while using a smaller portion to cover day-to-day expenses and potentially cashing out during market peaks—a strategy they’re currently enjoying.
Although there are no definite plans for what to do if bitcoin’s value continues to escalate, past adventures included enjoying skiing trips and extended stays in Mexico. “However,” Didi chuckles, “if Bitcoin crosses the $100,000 mark, I’m throwing a grand party!”
In April of this year, Didi had an engaging conversation with Beau van Erven Dorens, capturing the essence of their extraordinary journey. The family’s transformation into multi-millionaires has unlocked a world of travel opportunities while they remain grounded in their unique lifestyle.
That time is a much more important unit of value than money,” Didi remarked in an interview with RTL News. This philosophy has shaped their minimalist lifestyle, where they prioritize experiences over material possessions. “We live minimally, without luxury items, and focus on enjoying life to the fullest,” he adds, emphasizing that while their capital is growing, it’s not their main motivation. Instead, it’s about cherishing each other’s company and every moment they have.
The Taihuttu family’s journey showcases a radical shift in values, as they reject conventional norms in favor of a life that revolves around travel and exploration. This lifestyle not only gives them freedom but also serves as a powerful reminder of the preciousness of time amid the hustle for wealth. Their story underscores a growing trend among families seeking to redefine success and happiness in novel ways, especially in the age of cryptocurrencies.
As they continue their adventures, Didi is optimistic about the future of Bitcoin, believing in its cyclical nature and suggesting that a new peak could emerge in the coming year. In this dynamic world of cryptocurrencies, it seems the Taihuttu family is all set to reap the rewards while simultaneously advocating for a balanced approach to life, where relationships and experiences take precedence over temporal gains. If Bitcoin continues to soar, you can bet they’ll be ready to celebrate in style, making the most out of every rise in value—because for the Taihuttus, it’s not just about wealth; it’s about living life to the fullest.
