Gaza – The government media office in the Gaza Strip announced on Tuesday evening that Israel had killed more than 2,000 Palestinian civilians in the North Governorate during 38 days of continuous genocide and ethnic cleansing.
The Director-General of the Office, Ismail Al-Thawabta, said in a statement to Anadolu Agency: “The (Israeli) aggression that has continued for 38 days on the northern Gaza Strip has led to the martyrdom of more than 2,000 civilians, most of whom are children, women and the elderly.”
Al-Thawabta renewed his call on civil society to “intervene immediately in order to stop the genocidal war being practiced against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, especially the north.”
He also held the United States, Britain and some European countries responsible for what is happening in the Gaza Strip, which he said were partners in the policy of “starvation and genocide.”
**Safe areas
In this context, Al-Thawabta accused Israel of misleading the world and the international community with “false maps” about expanding humanitarian areas that it claims are “safe” for the Palestinians.
Regarding this, Al-Thawabta said: “The Israeli occupation army continues to issue false statements claiming to provide aid, establish field hospitals, and expand humanitarian areas.”
He added that the army “distributes maps indicating areas colored yellow and describes them as humanitarian and safe, then targets them with bombs and missiles, leading to a large number of martyrs and wounded, including women, children and the elderly.”
Al-Thawabta mentioned several areas that were directly targeted and were among the yellow zones, such as “the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis and Deir Al-Balah, which witnessed massacres against civilians despite the occupation’s claim that it was safe.”
On Monday, the Coordinator of Israeli Government Activities in the Palestinian Territories, Ghassan Alian, claimed on the “X” platform, “The army has expanded the humanitarian zone (Al-Mawasi in the southern Gaza Strip), which includes field hospitals,” and it is constantly being targeted by the army, as the last targeting was on Monday evening when it was bombed. Resting near the tents of displaced people in Mawasi Khan Yunis, which resulted in the death of 11 Palestinians.
The coordinator attached his post to a map in which he colored the area he claimed was humanitarian in yellow.
**Humanitarian aid
Regarding the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, Al-Thawabta stressed that Israel continues its policy of preventing its entry.
He continued: “The occupation continues to prevent the entry of food and medicine into the Gaza Strip.”
He explained that the closure of the Rafah crossing, which was an essential corridor for aid for about 190 days, caused “a severe shortage of basic materials and a high number of deaths as a result of hunger, especially in the northern Gaza Strip.”
In this context, Al-Thawabta stated that about 600,000 tons of aid and food supplies are stuck on the other side of the Rafah crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, and Israel still refuses to bring them in.
He continued, saying that Israel’s continued restrictions “are fueling the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip in an unprecedented way.”
Recently, international and international organizations warned of the official declaration of famine in the North Governorate as a result of the ongoing genocide since last October 5, coinciding with an applied military siege that prevented the entry of food, water, and medicine supplies into it.
In recent weeks, a real crisis has begun to loom in the central and southern Gaza Strip, due to the running out of flour and basic materials from markets and Palestinian homes, and they are forced to use spoiled flour to feed their families, and search for unhealthy alternatives.
The residents of Gaza and the north have previously suffered from a real “famine” in light of the scarcity of food, water, medicine, and fuel, as a result of the siege imposed by Israel on the two governorates since the start of its ground operation on October 27, 2023, which caused the death of a number of children and the elderly.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 146,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world. .
