A scandal that must be investigated

Open selection contests for candidates as dependents to enter one of the three branches of government almost always leave enough room for controversy. This is usually due to some extra help that was not contemplated in the regulations, or directly due to political accommodation that prevails to the detriment of fair competition.

However, some cases transcend these low-level ethical ploys and become raucous scandals worthy of administrative and criminal investigation. One of the cases related to the leakage of inspections that administered various stages of insolvency proceedings.

As we have reported for several days, suspicions of manipulation of this nature were raised precisely within the ranks of the Cordoba judges, a state power that due to various shortcomings is unable to function at the forefront.

As we point out on our page, it all started when the Association of Judicial Employees Union (Agepj) reported an alleged leak of an exam in the background competition for the position of Criminal Assistant Public Defender.

The surprising thing about this anomaly, which was intended to benefit four applicants, was that its sponsor was a full member of the exam board.

Ajepu’s accusations and the ensuing uproar over the issue resulted in the High Court of Cordoba declaring the evidence invalid. Specifically, in the case of the union, judicial officers allegedly disobeying their duty of loyalty sent questionnaires to four court employees in advance, who, as expected, significantly outperformed the other contestants, receiving the highest scores.

Cheating or crime? This is an issue that the High Court must investigate and address at the hands of the censors who are now the focus of speculation.

This is not the first time that a benefit derived from a simple friendship or parental relationship or in exchange for some benefit has been reported in the insolvency regime of the public administration.

The system of selection of candidates into public administration was regulated to put an end to the old habit of appointing activists, relatives and friends. Strictly speaking, this is a very old practice that, regardless of stance, is not even eradicated today.

According to the union’s complaint, what is happening in the Ministry of Justice in Cordoba these days should not be exhausted in a classic administrative summary, but should be an in-depth investigation of other parties allegedly involved in this operation and focus on the possibility of other personnel selection incidents. .

The general public is skeptical of the recurring scandals set in the country’s executive branch. These are tough times and it pays to lead by example.
