A historic chess competition where participants from all over the world can compete online against rising chess star Hans Niemann on chess.it.com on November 13, 2024.
The chess world will witness a groundbreaking event, “Hans Niemann vs. You”, where participants from all over the world will team up with an AI advisory system to compete against Grandmaster Hans Niemann. This extraordinary challenge, a project of it.com Domains in collaboration with World Chess and Web Summit, will take place on 13. November2024, one 12:15pm GMT/1:15pm CET will take place at the Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon. The match is open to everyone: online – no registration or chess knowledge required – and revives the tension of the classic showdown between intellect and strategy.
Inspired by Garry Kasparov’s historic games against the world in 1999, which saw more than 50,000 participants take part in a game at the MSN Gaming Zone, and his legendary defeat of IBM’s Deep Blue in 1997 – the first time a computer had officiated world champion – this event highlights the potential of collaborative strategy and the evolving capabilities of artificial intelligence in chess. The AI advisory system, developed by it.com Domains and powered by the Stockfish AI engine, offers participants three options for each move that emulate different levels of play – Grandmaster, Advanced and Amateur. The participants do not know which move corresponds to which level. You have 30 seconds to cast your vote, and the most popular option will be the official World Team move. The distribution of votes in real time is displayed on the website. Hans Niemann, in turn, has a total of 5 minutes to make his moves.
