InstaDeep and GOMYCODE, two major tech players, have launched Project Tatooine, an ambitious initiative aimed at training 10,000 young Tunisians in digital skills and artificial intelligence.
This project, unveiled during the Tunisia Global Forum, represents a key step for the development of the Tunisian digital ecosystem.
Through the opening of 20 hackerspaces in priority regions such as Tozeur, Tataouine, and Sidi Bouzid, the project intends to make tech training accessible to young people from disadvantaged areas, often limited by local opportunities.
To facilitate this learning, Project Tatooine benefits from funding of 3 million dinars, of which 2 million are already covered by private contributions. This budget will make it possible to offer scholarships covering all or part of the training costs.
Selected young people will also have access to 4,000 internships with technology companies, in order to offer them concrete experience in the sector and strengthen their employability.
Hackerspaces are designed to be centers of collaboration and innovation. Young talents will benefit from a collaborative work environment, where they can get involved in real projects and participate in events organized in these spaces.
The aim is to encourage a culture of innovation and generate interest in cutting-edge technologies, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
Yahya Bouhlel, CEO of GOMYCODE, and Karim Beguir, CEO of InstaDeep, share a common vision: to make Tunisia a center of digital skills and open up prospects for young people.
“The journey of InstaDeep, which began in Tataouine before expanding internationally, shows that anything is possible,” said Bouhlel.
And GOMYCODE is delighted to launch this initiative to offer new opportunities to young people far from the job market, with the support of donors committed to opening up prospects in the field of tech for young Tunisians.
And with Project Tatooine, InstaDeep and GOMYCODE aim to build a generation of digital professionals, capable of competing on the global stage and contributing to the growth of the digital economy in Tunisia.
