National Health Day (HKN) is celebrated every year on November 12. HKN was first celebrated in 1964 as an effort to commemorate Indonesia’s success in overcoming the malaria outbreak that occurred in the 1950s.
Reporting from the Ministry of Health (Handbook for the 60th HKN Commemoration), this year’s National Health Day is the 60th anniversary with the theme “Moving Together Healthy Together”.
This theme emphasizes the importance of maintaining health, invites people to maintain health, builds enthusiasm to stay healthy, and reminds the importance of implementing a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS).

**Interview with Dr. Sarah Widiastuti, Health Advocate and Organizer of National Health Day Celebrations**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Widiastuti. As we approach the 60th National Health Day on November 12, can you share the significance of this year’s theme, “Moving Together Healthy Together”?
**Dr. Widiastuti:** Thank you for having me. This theme is particularly important as it not only highlights the collective responsibility we have for our health but also emphasizes the joy of engaging in healthy activities with others. It serves as a reminder that maintaining a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) is a communal effort that can lead to a healthier, more productive society.
**Editor:** With the anniversary being a milestone, how can people participate in the celebrations?
**Dr. Widiastuti:** There are many ways to engage! Hosting sports events, such as walks or runs, is a great option. We also encourage community health seminars, blood donation drives, free health check-ups, and social media campaigns to share health tips. Even simple acts like cleaning up the environment can make a significant impact.
**Editor:** That sounds like a wonderful variety of activities. Why do you think it’s important for people to actively participate in these events?
**Dr. Widiastuti:** Active participation encourages a sense of community and accountability. When people come together for a common cause, like health, they inspire each other to adopt healthier lifestyles. It also helps to raise awareness about health issues and preventive measures, which is crucial for tackling diseases effectively.
**Editor:** What message would you like to convey to our readers as we celebrate this special day?
**Dr. Widiastuti:** I urge everyone to take part in the activities planned for National Health Day, but also to cultivate a mindset of well-being year-round. Let’s prioritize our health, not just through events but in our daily routines. Remember, by moving together, we can truly be healthy together!
