It is estimated that currently the number of Koreans in Indonesia has reached more than 78 thousand people. In order to introduce works of art from Indonesia to the Korean community, the ‘What Are you Creating in Jakarta’ event will be held.

‘What Are you Creating in Jakarta’ will greet art lovers at Kendys Gallery, Jakarta on 12-17 November 2024. Meanwhile, the display at Kendys Gallery itself will last until January 2025.

“We bridge the gap by analyzing the needs and interests of the Korean community in culture and leisure,” said Jihyun Kim, who is familiarly called Jessie, in his statement on Monday (11/11).

Through ‘What Are you Creating in Jakarta?’, Jessie invites visitors to explore the city of Jakarta. “We emphasize that everyone is a creator, regardless of their background or profession, challenging the notion that art is exclusive to a select few,” he said.

It introduces the dynamic Indonesian art scene to the Korean community in Jakarta, bringing art closer to everyday life.

“Visitors are invited to engage with the questions raised by the artwork, create their own messages, and explore the stories within,” Jessie said.

On the same occasion, Gallerist Denny Yustana from Kendys Gallery said that as a gallerist he felt lucky to have been helped by four talented Korean artists.

“We are displaying their works of art. Hopefully it can bring a little feeling of home to the visitors. I hope this event can further strengthen relations between the Korean and Indonesian communities in both countries.”

“Thank you to the artists who have supported this event, including Jiwoo Shin, Hannah Shin, Sel Yoon-Suak and Soyoung Seo,” concluded Denny. (H-2)
