There are just a few days left until the different unions sit down to negotiate the increase in the minimum wage for 2025, and the National Government has already shown its cards, giving the figure that they consider should rise for next year, and leaving more than one person surprised.

It was the Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, who referred to the issue, explaining that the minimum wage for next year must be set with the projections of the Consumer Price Index-CPI- which this month would close at approximately 5.2%.

That percentage would be the starting point, although the figure established by Bonilla was 6.2%, in order for Colombians to earn more compared to the country’s inflation.

Thus, the minimum wage for 2025, according to Government projections, would be close to 1,400,000 pesos per month, a figure that could be far from what the labor unions have.

For them, the salary should increase by approximately 15%, aiming to reach 1,600,000 per month. For its part, the business community would be closer to the government, establishing a 6% increase figure.
