When will the bicycle path all the way to Juodkrantė be fixed?

“They cleaned up, they cleaned up, but, as is usual here in Lithuania, they didn’t clean up completely,” the cyclists complained to “Vakaru ekspres”.

In addition, the recreation area near Juodkrantė – benches, fire pit – is extremely untidy: trash cans are constantly overflowing.

When “Vakaru Express” contacted Egle Nemanyte, chief communications manager of the International Relations and Communication Department of the Lithuanian Motorway Directorate (LAKD) and inquired about the planned works, she replied: “The project “Pedestrian and bicycle path Smiltynė-Nida section from 15.576 to 31.232 is currently underway km reconstruction” public procurement of contract works. After the public procurement, reconstruction works of the path will begin from the already reconstructed path to Pervalka (to Naglii dune). The 2-3 km stretch to Juodkrantė is also mentioned in this section. The works are planned to be completed in 2024. A more specific date will be clear after the procurement procedures.”

She also emphasized that it is planned to reconstruct the bicycle path Juodkrantė-Preila.

“A public procurement has also been announced for the reconstruction of the section of the path from Pervalka to Pervalka beach and the section from Preila to Preila beach. Project “Reconstruction of sections of the Smiltynė-Nida pedestrian and bicycle path from 0.010 to 2.029 km, from 0.011 to 1.829 km, from 31.249 to 34.050 km, from 34.074 to 34.217 km”. After the public procurement, the reconstruction works of the path will begin. The works are planned to be completed in 2024. The remaining section of the trail from Preila to Nida does not belong to the Road Directorate under the right of property trust,” said E. Nemanytė.
