In Venezuela, if a person does not have the original certificate of the birth certificate, they can request a copy of the document at the Civil Registry office of the jurisdiction where it was originally issued or at the civil headquarters of the municipality or parish of their residence.
With the birth certificate in hand, the person must begin the legalization process in the system of the Autonomous Service of Registries and Notaries (Saren) as the first step before the apostille.
To do this, the applicant must scan the document and register on the Saren platform (https://tramites.saren.gob.ve/) with a username and password. The page requests data such as the folio and record number, in addition to other details necessary for legalization.
The Venezuelan State requires the payment of a tax stamp (approximately between 2 and 3 dollars at the rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela). After making the payment, the system provides an appointment for the presentation of the birth certificate.
