VICTIMS of consecutive accidents on the Purbaleunyi Toll Road towards Jakarta, specifically KM 92 of the Cipularang Toll Road, have increased. The number of victims as of Tuesday morning, November 12 2024 reached 30 people.
“Then from the results of the latest data collection this morning there was an increase of one victim, a total of 30 victims,” said Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Jules Abraham Abast when confirmed, Tuesday (12/11).
Jules detailed that of the 30 victims, one of them died at the location. Then, four victims suffered serious injuries and 25 victims suffered minor injuries. Dozens of injured victims underwent treatment at Abdul Radjak Hospital, Purwakarta. Including the truck driver with the initials R who crashed into dozens of vehicles.

“The truck drivers, including victim 30, who (the victim) suffered injuries are still being treated at the hospital, but (the truck driver) is under the supervision and protection of the Purwakarta Police,” said Jules.
The accident started when a container truck loaded with quite heavy cardboard was speeding at around 15.10 WIB, Monday, November 11 2024. The accident is thought to have been caused by a brake failure, so the truck was unable to slow down or brake.
“As a result, the vehicle lost control and then overturned across the lane,” said Head of PJR Cipularang Toll Road, Commissioner Joko Prihantono, Monday, November 11 2024.

The vehicle hit by the truck also hit the vehicle in front of it. A total of 17 vehicles were involved in this incident. Dozens of vehicles were piled up and crushed.
Police processed the crime scene (TKP) this morning to find out for sure the cause of the series of accidents. During the crime scene investigation, from 30 minutes to 1 hour, the road was temporarily closed.
Vehicles heading to Jakarta from Bandung are released at the Cikamuning Toll Gate (GT) KM 116. Vehicles are directed to use the Purwakarta arterial road to re-enter the Sadang Toll Road. (Yon/I-2)

**Commissioner Abast:** The investigation is ongoing, but we know that the collision involved 21 vehicles, which included various types of vehicles. The preliminary reports suggest that a truck driver, whose initials are R, may have been involved in the chain reaction that led to the accident.

**Commissioner Abast:** We are coordinating with health services to ensure that all victims receive the necessary medical care. Additionally, our traffic division is investigating the cause of the collision to prevent future incidents of this nature.
