And let’s look at more discoveries from testers in the latest betas of the company’s operating systems. Applemore specifically in the third betas of the iOS 18.2do iPadOS 18.2 and the macOS 15.2 — which are among those released today. It is worth noting, however, that some of them were already available in the second beta version.
This time, there are new features involving AirPlay, Camera Control (Camera Control), the TV app, CarPlay, and the Photos app (Photos)!
New options for AirPlay on macOS
As noted by MacRumorsmacOS Sequoia 15.2 will show three options when the user triggers sharing of the computer’s screen with Apple TV via AirPlay.
It will now be possible to share the entire screen, a window, a specific app or just extend the screen — options that are also displayed when the Mac is connected to a TV via an HDMI cable.
Tab bar customizable in the TV app
Following the addition of the tab bar to some apps in iPadOS, Apple has now added support for the feature in the TV app — one of the few features in version 18 that isn’t present in iOS.
As noted by 9to5Maclike other apps, the TV tab bar is (almost) completely customizable, just tap and hold on it to enter editing mode and allow you to add channels, library sections, etc.
Camera Control with the screen off
By default, you can only open the Camera app using Camera Control if the screen is already on — which requires pressing the button at least twice in situations where the display is off.
According to the 9to5Macthe newest beta of iOS 18.2, there is a new toggle which allows you to disable this default behavior. Named “Require Screen On”the option is activated by default and is in the “Display and Brightness” section of the Settings app.
New icons for CarPlay
According to the MacRumorsthe codes for the third beta of iOS 18.2 show the presence of redesigned icons for the “Weather” and “Media” options especially for the next generation CarPlay — which indicates that Apple continues to work on the future of its automotive system.
Change in the Photos app
Apple also implemented a change in the Photos app when a video with a vertical aspect ratio is displayed. Now, there is no longer the option to tap the screen to display the video in full screen, with the thumbnails and playback control remaining over it.

### Interview: Exploring New Features in Apple’s Latest Beta Updates
**Editor:** Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with tech analyst Jamie Carter about the exciting new features unveiled in the latest beta updates for Apple’s operating systems, specifically iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS 15.2. Welcome, Jamie!
**Jamie Carter:** Thanks for having me! I’m excited to discuss these updates.
**Editor:** Let’s dive right in. One of the standout features in macOS 15.2 is the new AirPlay options. Can you elaborate on what users can expect?
**Jamie Carter:** Absolutely! In this latest update, users will have much more flexibility with AirPlay. When sharing their screen with an Apple TV, they now have three options: sharing the entire screen, a specific window, or a single app. This is a game-changer for presentations or multi-tasking, as it allows for a more tailored experience depending on the user’s needs.
**Editor:** That sounds incredibly useful! Moving on to the TV app, what updates have been made there?
**Jamie Carter:** The TV app has also been enhanced significantly. They’ve introduced a customizable tab bar, much like what we’ve seen in other apps on iPadOS. Users can now edit their tab bar by adding channels or library sections, making their viewing experience more personalized and efficient. This is certainly a welcome feature for avid TV watchers.
**Editor:** Personalization seems to be a big focus here. What about the Camera Control feature?
**Jamie Carter:** Yes, indeed! In iOS 18.2, there’s a new option in the settings that allows users to enable Camera Control without needing the screen to be on. Previously, you had to turn on the display, which could be annoying in certain scenarios. This toggle simplifies access, especially useful for quick snaps or video calls.
**Editor:** That’s a convenience many will appreciate! Lastly, let’s touch on CarPlay. What can you tell us about the changes there?
**Jamie Carter:** The third beta includes redesigned icons for apps like Weather and Music in CarPlay, making them more modern and user-friendly. This is part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to enhance the driver’s experience, ensuring that it remains safe while integrating technology seamlessly into daily driving.
**Editor:** Excellent insights, Jamie! These features reflect Apple’s commitment to improving user experience across its devices. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us today!
**Jamie Carter:** My pleasure! It’s an exciting time for Apple users, and I look forward to seeing how these features are received once fully launched.
