The Sports & Territories association aims to be a place for meetings, information, exchanges and reflections on territorial sports policies and the innovations to be made for the development of sport in France. At the heart of the Salon des Maires, but also the Salon des Sports et Parasports, its action is therefore ambitious, as Stéphanie Lembré, recently president of Sports & Territoires, explains.
Sports & Territoires is present at the Salon des Maires 2024. What are the challenges of participating in such an event?
We were already alongside Infopro-Digital for the creation last year of the first Sports Fair, the result of a historic partnership with the organizers of the Salon des Maires.
Sports et Territoires aims to promote exchanges between sports technicians as a whole (whether they come from communities, the State, academics, trainers, the sports movement, the economic sector), those who implement local sports policies. It therefore seemed important to us to be there for the Salon des Sports et Parasports, which is held at the same time as the Salon des Maires. This is the ideal opportunity for us to be as close as possible to local elected officials, but also to sports technicians who visit the show in search of new ideas or solutions.
On site, what will the Sports & Territories program be?
We tried to improve the program that we initiated last year. From a first experience, we always learn lessons and areas for improvement. Our program is still based on two pillars: a collective stand, which we share with fifteen partners, and the “Sports and Territories Forum”, a place for information and debate around an inaugural round table and three thematic conferences.
The Legacy of the Paris 2024 Games is at the heart of this Sports and Parasports Show. How will Sports & Territoires make its contribution?
On the three conferences that we are going to offer, we tried to take up the pillars developed by Paris 2024 in the organization of the Games. First of all around the issues of eco-responsibility, to move “Towards a viable, livable and fair sporting model”, which generalizes recycling but is also concerned with reducing its carbon impact. We will also talk about innovations, with “A connected sport at the service of a sporting nation” to move with technology but also develop 2.0 infrastructures. And finally, with a view to achieving a fair balance, we will see how to move “From equal games to a mixed and egalitarian sport” both in terms of sports practice and sports management professions.
At this type of Show, who are the players who come most to meet Sports & Territories and what topics are discussed?
Mainly elected officials who come to tell us about their local issues. But as the years go by, we also find more and more sports professionals, who present solutions and experiments carried out in their territories. Concerning the conferences, we see that the audience is fairly representative of the 4 major players in Sport, namely elected officials, territorial technicians, representatives of the sports movement and some economic players. They come to be inspired by the solutions that our partners propose and present, and to debate with them.
What are the areas for improvement for this new edition?
In addition to the conferences, we plan to produce technical sheets. They will be very methodological and will explain how to develop a specific project in a territory. We take a concrete example that worked to define the key elements of its implementation so that it can be duplicated elsewhere. This is really an element on which we always wish to place more emphasis in order to implement what works in the territories.
