THE SITUATION currently being faced in the Middle East region in difficult conditions and the suffering of the Palestinian people must end. This was said by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday (7/11).

“The situation is complicated and I will try to formulate it in two parts at once. Russia considers it necessary to implement all decisions of the UN General Assembly and UNSC regarding Israel and Palestine,” Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.

“This is not an opportunistic policy. This position has been a tradition since the days of the Soviet Union and Russia continues to continue this line,” he stressed.

“So, if all the decisions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly regarding the creation of two independent sovereign states are implemented, this will become the basis for resolving the crisis, no matter how severe and acute the situation will emerge,” he said.

Putin stated that Russia has its own ideas for resolving conflicts in the Middle East. “Now what is needed is to minimize the suffering of the Palestinian people. It is necessary to stop the fighting there immediately,” said the Russian head of state.

“Everything must be done to ensure that both Israel and Palestine, in this case Hamas, agree to this. The most important thing now is to immediately stop the fighting,” Putin added.

Russia continues to make contact with conflict parties in the Middle East. He added that all parties involved in the Middle East conflict do not want confrontation and are working to resolve the issue. (Ant/Z-2)
