How to Grow an Eight-Figure Investment Portfolio from Around the World: Lars’ Investing Story | Business

The interviewee, as he says, started investing very late – at the age of 23, just before the global financial crisis of 2008. The desire to create financial security and independence from an employer led Lars to investing. Today he is Germany’s most popular blogger writing about alternative investments, mainly about P2P platforms. Lars’ blog “Passives Einkommen mit P2P” receives about 100 thousand readers per month.

Although he did not start investing at the most favorable time, Lars’s portfolio currently consists of an eight-figure sum, most of which – about 70 percent – is invested in shares. The rest is split between cryptocurrencies, cash and P2P lending and investment platforms.

“Like many investors, my path to success was winding, I had to deal with fraudsters and lose money. However, all failures have taught us something,” says the interviewer. “Meanwhile, the most unexpected success on the investment path is investing in cryptocurrencies. I bought Bitcoin for just under €1,000 and Ethereum for less than €100. So far, it has more than paid off and brought me a return of several thousand percent,” says the interviewer.

Beginners are advised not to chase returns

Remembering the critical moments of his investment career, Lars also emphasizes the Covid-19 pandemic, at the beginning of which the stock markets and indices in the world fell by about 30-40 percent.

“During Covid-19, I was already much more experienced compared to the 2008 crisis. I decided to take advantage of the downturn in the markets and invested my cash reserves extensively in securities. Looking back, it was the right decision,” says the interviewer.

When asked what he would recommend to beginning investors, Lars singles out three essential points.

“First of all, keep things very simple at the beginning of investing and stick to regulated investments. This way you will avoid scams and opaque schemes that can destroy your capital. Second, invest as broadly as possible, but use as few instruments as possible – ETFs are a great place to start. Third, try not to chase high returns. If it comes, it will be great, but being a little more careful will prevent bigger failures.”

Living in Germany, he chooses the Lithuanian RT platform

The investor, who manages an eight-figure portfolio, is also actively involved in the P2P and crowdfunding market – he has currently invested in 21 such platforms, including InRento.

“I was one of the first investors when InRento came out and I’m happy with the decision – they’ve done an amazing job so far, unlike many other platforms in the real estate industry, they haven’t had any setbacks or delays.” There are similar platforms in Germany, but their returns are much lower and their performance is poor,” he says.

InRento, an investment platform for real estate rental projects, founded in 2020, already has more than 25,000 users who have invested over 34 million. euros, and investors earned over 2.7 million. euros.

“Lars is far from the only foreigner investing on our platform. In fact, at InRento we have almost as many investors from abroad as from Lithuania. People from markets like Germany, Spain, where there are a lot of investment tools and platforms, choose to work with us. For us, this is a great symbol of trust and appreciation”, says InRento founder Gustas Germanavičius.

Investing involves the risk of losing part or all of the invested amount, so it is recommended to diversify investments and invest responsibly.

**Interview with Lars Müller: From Struggles to Success in Alternative Investments**

*Editor:* Welcome, Lars! It’s great ⁣to have you here today. You started your investment journey at⁢ a⁣ challenging time, just before the ‌global financial crisis in 2008. What motivated you ‌to begin investing under⁣ such conditions?

*Lars Müller:* Thank you for having‍ me! My ⁣primary motivation was the desire for financial security and independence from an employer. I realized ‍that to take control⁢ of ‍my financial future, I ‍needed to ⁢start investing. Despite starting at what many would⁣ consider⁢ a tough time, it pushed me to learn and grow as an investor.

*Editor:* Your blog, “Passives Einkommen‌ mit P2P,” has ⁤gained significant traction, boasting around ‌100,000 readers ⁤a month. How‍ did you transition⁤ from investor to blogger?

*Lars Müller:* Initially, I was passionate about⁤ sharing my experiences and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I figured that ‍if my journey could help others avoid common pitfalls or guide them in alternative investments, it would‌ be worth documenting. Over time, it just⁣ grew organically into a community of like-minded individuals.

*Editor:* You mentioned ‌that your ⁤portfolio ‍is primarily ⁢in stocks, but you also‌ include cryptocurrencies⁣ and P2P lending platforms.‍ Can you share how your investment strategy evolved?

*Lars Müller:* Absolutely. In the beginning, my focus was mainly on⁢ conventional ‌stocks, but as I gained experience⁤ and confidence, I began exploring alternative investments. I initially dabbled‌ in cryptocurrencies, and I was fortunate enough to invest in⁢ Bitcoin and Ethereum at very low prices, which has significantly benefited my portfolio. ⁤Today, 70% is in stocks, while the rest ‌is allocated to‌ crypto, cash, and P2P lending.

*Editor:* Looking back at critical moments, you mentioned ⁣the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. How did you approach‌ investing during that time?

*Lars Müller:* During the pandemic, the experience I had gained from the 2008‌ crisis really paid ⁢off.⁢ The stock market experienced a sharp decline, but I viewed it as an opportunity. I leveraged my cash reserves to invest in undervalued securities. In hindsight, that was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

*Lars Müller:* My top three recommendations are: First, ⁤keep it simple. Start with ⁢regulated‍ investments to avoid⁢ scams.
