Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly received at Cairo International Airport the Malaysian Prime Minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation, in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador to Kuala Lumpur, Rajai Nasr, and the Malaysian Ambassador to Cairo, Mohamed Tarid Sufyan.
The Malaysian Prime Minister is accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohamed Hassan, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Deputy Minister of Energy Transport and Water Conversion Akmal Nasrallah Mohamed Nasir, and Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Huang Tiong See.
The Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit to Egypt comes within the framework of the two countries’ efforts to strengthen the historical relations between Cairo and Kuala Lumpur, which extend to many political, economic, cultural and religious fields, according to a statement by the Egyptian Council of Ministers.
The Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt, Mohamed Tarad Sufyan, confirmed that the Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, came to Egypt at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, so that his visit represents an important milestone in relations between Malaysia and Egypt.
The Malaysian ambassador said that the visit will pave the way for diversifying and enhancing cooperation, as well as strengthening the foundations of synergy in addressing various regional and global issues of common interest.
The Malaysian ambassador expected that President Sisi’s meeting with the Malaysian Prime Minister would focus on strengthening bilateral relations by enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, defence, security, tourism, education, and religious affairs.
The discussions include exploring new cooperation in the fields of health, renewable energy, water, natural resources and environmental sustainability, and discussing regional and international issues of common interest, especially Palestine.
President Sisi and the Malaysian Prime Minister are scheduled to witness the exchange of memorandums of understanding between Malaysia and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif for cooperation in the College of Islamic Studies, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in religious affairs between Malaysia and Egypt.
On Sunday, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim will deliver a public lecture from Al-Azhar, entitled “Stronger Together: A Vision for the Islamic Nation through Technological, Social and Economic Empowerment.”
During his visit to Egypt, the Malaysian Prime Minister will witness the inauguration of the “Proton Saga” car assembly and production center, whose production capacity is planned to reach 5,000 cars in 2025.
