Remembering Paraic Burke: A Gentle Soul from Ballina

It’s not every day that we gather to bid farewell to someone as beloved as Paraic Burke, who sadly passed away at his residence in Portacloy, Carrowteigue, on 9th November 2024. At this point, you might be thinking, “Oh no, not another obituary!” But think of this as a celebration—a roast, albeit a bit gentler since Paraic was known for his kindness and gentleness.

Paraic may have departed this world, but what a legacy he leaves behind! He was a familial force—not just in paperwork but in the hearts of his brothers, Thomas and Seamus, and sisters, Anne and Maire. Let’s face it: he’s probably up there now, giving his parents John and Mary, who predeceased him, a run for their money in the heavenly debates about the best family recipe.

In a touching turn of events, Paraic was also cherished by not only his blood relatives but his extended clan—brother-in-law John, Peter, and sister-in-law Caroline, along with a casting crew of nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, and friends. That’s right, folks, he had the kind of following that would make even the most dubious social media influencer look like a recluse.

Funeral Mass: The Church Of The Immaculate Conception, Carrowteigue, on Wednesday, 13th November, at 12 noon.
