Washington, Nov 9 (EFE).- The outgoing president of the United States, Democrat Joe Biden, and the winner of the elections, Republican Donald Trump, will meet next Wednesday, November 13 at the White House in order to begin talks for the transition of powers.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced this Saturday in a statement that Biden will receive Trump in the Oval Office next Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Washington time (4:00 p.m. GMT).
Trump, who already governed the country between 2017 and 2021, won the elections last Tuesday over the Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, who last July took over from Biden as her party’s candidate.
In the absence of scrutiny in the state of Arizona, the last one to be awarded, Trump won 301 electoral votes, 31 more votes than the 270 needed to win the Presidency, compared to the 226 garnered by Harris.
In an address to the nation on Thursday, Biden promised to ensure a “peaceful and orderly transition” to transfer power to Trump and sought to comfort Democrats by assuring that “America is going to be fine.”
Biden did not confirm whether he will attend Trump’s inauguration in person on January 20, 2025, but hinted that he might do so: “I will keep my promises and honor the Constitution on January 20; “We will have a peaceful transition of power in the United States,” he stated.
When Trump lost the election in 2020 to Biden, he refused to accept the result and became the first president in 150 years not to attend his successor’s inauguration.
The Republican returns to power four years after a mob of his followers stormed the Capitol in a failed attempt to stop the transition of powers.
In addition to winning the White House, the Republicans also won the majority in the Senate and the count points to a majority in the House of Representatives as well, which would give Trump ample power.

**Interview with Political Analyst Dr. Emily Carter on the Upcoming Biden-Trump Meeting**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Carter. We’re hearing that President Biden and President-elect Trump are set to meet on November 13 to discuss the transition of power. What do you think the significance of this meeting is?
**Dr. Carter:** Thank you for having me. This meeting is incredibly significant for several reasons. Firstly, it symbolizes a commitment to a smooth transition, which is crucial for the stability of our democracy. Regardless of their political differences, both leaders have a responsibility to ensure a seamless handover of power, especially given the current polarization in American politics.
**Interviewer:** Absolutely. With Trump’s election being a surprise to many, do you think there are any specific challenges they might face during their discussions?
**Dr. Carter:** Definitely. The biggest challenge will likely be communication. Both Biden and Trump represent vastly different ideologies, and there’s a history of tension between them. However, I think they will need to focus on the practicalities of the transition, such as national security and economic policy, to ensure that they address critical issues without letting their personal animosities derail the process.
**Interviewer:** Many people are curious about how the upcoming administration might differ from Biden’s. What are your expectations for this transition?
**Dr. Carter:** Given Trump’s track record, I expect a significant shift in priorities. We might see a reorientation in foreign policy, as Trump has often favored a more isolationist approach. Additionally, domestic issues such as healthcare and climate change may be tackled from a very different angle. This transition could also present an opportunity for both parties to find common ground on key issues.
**Interviewer:** That’s a very interesting perspective. As they prepare for this meeting, what message do you think Biden should send to Trump and the American people?
**Dr. Carter:** Ultimately, the message should be one of unity and responsibility. Biden should emphasize the importance of working together for the American people as they navigate this transition. He could also express a willingness to listen and collaborate, setting a tone of cooperation that could be beneficial in the months ahead.
**Interviewer:** Thank you so much, Dr. Carter, for sharing your insights. It will be fascinating to see how this meeting unfolds and shapes the future of our nation.
**Dr. Carter:** Thank you for having me. It’s certainly a pivotal moment for our country.
