**Interview with ⁤Dr. Ayesha Qureshi, Political Analyst and Middle East Expert**

**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr.‌ Qureshi. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif‍ is attending the second joint ‌Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, focusing on the‌ situation in Gaza and Palestine. What ‌significance ⁢do you think this ‌summit holds for Pakistan?

**Dr. Qureshi:** Thank⁣ you for having ⁤me. This summit is⁢ quite significant for Pakistan ⁤as it not only demonstrates the country’s commitment to supporting Palestine but also positions Pakistan ⁢as an active‍ player in regional politics. Given the heightened concerns in the‍ Muslim community regarding ‍the ongoing crises in Gaza, it’s crucial for Pakistan to voice its support and advocate for Palestinian rights on⁤ such prominent platforms.

**Editor:** ⁤The summit will address calls for an end to violence in⁤ Gaza. How might such discussions influence regional stability?

**Dr. Qureshi:** The summit ‍serves ‍as an essential ‍forum for collective Muslim‍ action and solidarity. If the leaders agree on a unified stance against the violence and advocate for a cease-fire and international protection for⁣ the Palestinian people, it‍ could potentially alleviate tensions in the region.‍ However, the effectiveness of these discussions will depend on follow-through and the ⁢willingness ⁣of influential nations to⁣ apply⁣ pressure on⁣ Israel and other⁢ parties ‍involved.

**Editor:** What do you believe⁢ Pakistan’s specific contributions will‌ be during ‍this⁣ summit?

**Dr. Qureshi:** Pakistan is expected to vigorously advocate for ⁣several key positions: an⁣ immediate cease-fire, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, and ⁣the need for international protection‌ for Palestinians.⁢ By taking a strong stance, Pakistan can not only strengthen bilateral ties⁣ with other Muslim nations but also enhance its image⁤ as a ⁢leader in the fight for human ‌rights.

**Editor:** There seems to be a broader ⁤concern ⁣about ⁣Middle Eastern security in‌ the wake of recent events. How do you view ‍the geopolitical implications of ‌this summit?

**Dr. Qureshi:** The geopolitical landscape of the Middle East is complex, ⁢and the situation in⁣ Gaza ‍is a focal point of⁣ broader Arab-Israeli tensions. By addressing the issue collectively, Islamic nations can present a united front, which may pressure other global powers to take a more active role in resolving the conflict. Such a summit can be pivotal not just for Palestine, but for establishing a ⁣larger dialogue around security, stability, and cooperation in the region.

**Editor:** Thank you very‍ much, Dr. Qureshi, for sharing your insights on this‍ important⁢ topic and the upcoming summit.

**Dr. Qureshi:** My pleasure! Thank you for⁣ having me.
