THE Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo wants the General Management (PB) of the All Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) to continue regenerating athletes.
Dito said this at the 2024 National Conference (Munas) of the General Management (PB) of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) at the Grand Kemang Hotel, South Jakarta, Tuesday (5/11).
Dito admitted that he was quite happy to see the transformation of PB PABSI and hoped that in the future he could continue the comprehensive regeneration of athletes in Indonesia.

“We really need regeneration, from Eko Yuli Irawan, from Rizki, Rahmat, and others. “Because we really hope that at the 2028 Olympics, PABSI will donate another gold medal,” said Dito in his statement, Tuesday (5/11).
Towards achieving this target, Dito stated that the government is focused and committed to helping PB PABSI. The closest support is the presence of the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center which is planned to start operating next December.
“Starting in December, the Cibubur Youth Elite Sport Center will be able to be used by PB PABSI to carry out its national training in the new facility. “These facilities are world standard, and if there are deficiencies, they can still be added,” explained Dito.

With the existence of this new facility, Dito hopes that the sport of weightlifting can maintain or even add to its achievements on the world stage.
For this reason, Dito asked that in this National Conference a roadmap towards the 2028 Olympics be formulated and prepared so that what is targeted can be achieved.
“Prepared in terms of coaching and scouting, to the needs of sports science, national training and everything. “God willing, because yesterday at Paris 2024 PABSI has proven, I think in the future we will make National Training for the 2028 Olympic Games long term,” said Dito.
The main agenda for this National Conference itself is the election of the Chairman of PB PABSI for the 2025-2029 term of office. The National Conference participants are all PABSI members, provincial administrators (pengprov) throughout Indonesia. (Z-6)

**Interview with Dito Ariotedjo, Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Minister Dito. At the recent National Conference of the All Indonesian Weightlifting Association, you emphasized the importance of athlete regeneration. Can you elaborate on why this is such a priority for you and PABSI?
**Dito Ariotedjo:** Thank you for having me. Regeneration is crucial for the sustainability of any sport, especially weightlifting in Indonesia. We have talented athletes like Eko Yuli Irawan and Rizki Rahmat, who have made significant contributions to our success. However, we need to ensure a new generation is prepared to take their place and continue to elevate Indonesian weightlifting on the world stage.
**Editor:** You mentioned the 2028 Olympics specifically. What steps is PABSI taking, or should take, to ensure that we have the athletes ready to compete at such a high level?
**Dito Ariotedjo:** PABSI is already on the right track by focusing on comprehensive training programs and scouting younger talent. We need to build a structured pathway where young lifters can develop their skills and gain international exposure. Additionally, fostering a competitive environment through local and national competitions will play a vital role.
**Editor:** With the upcoming IWF World Cup, how do you see the role of athletes sent by PABSI in preparing for future competitions, including the Olympics?
**Dito Ariotedjo:** This event is a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to gain experience and showcase their talent on an international platform. Competing against other nations will provide invaluable insights and help them prepare mentally and physically for the demands of higher stakes events like the Olympics. We have high hopes for our 11 national training athletes sent to the tournament.
**Editor:** what message would you like to convey to the athletes and aspiring weightlifters out there?
**Dito Ariotedjo:** To all current and future athletes, I want to stress that hard work and dedication are paramount. We believe in your potential and are committed to providing the necessary resources for you to succeed. Keep pushing yourselves, and you’ll be the ones to bring home more medals for Indonesia in the future.
**Editor:** Thank you, Minister Dito, for sharing your insights with us today. We look forward to seeing the progress of our weightlifting athletes!
