In view of the current injury woes, Real Madrid are considering making another attempt to sign central defender Aymeric Laporte from Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr in January. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper As.
Accordingly, Real could convince Laporte that Al-Nassr demands the termination of his contract, which runs until 2026. The Royals would not have to pay a transfer fee for the 30-year-old, who became European champions with Spain last summer.
The renewed speculation about Laporte comes as Real are currently suffering from serious injury problems, especially in defense. After right-back Dani Carvajal tore his cruciate ligament at the beginning of October, Central defender Eder Militao suffered the same injury in the 4-0 win against Osasuna on Saturday.
Both defenders could therefore no longer be available for the entire remainder of the current season. Since David Alaba, who also tore his cruciate ligament, is just now finally working towards his comeback, Real currently only have two nominal central defenders in the squad, Antonio Rüdiger and Jesus Vallejo. With Raúl Asencio, a central defender was recently brought up from the second team; he came on as a substitute for Militao on Saturday.

**Interview with Football Expert Maria Gonzalez**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, Maria. With the current injury crisis at Real Madrid, it seems they’re looking into the possibility of signing Aymeric Laporte from Al-Nassr. Given that Real could sign him without a transfer fee, do you think this is a smart move for the club?
**Maria Gonzalez:** Absolutely, it makes sense from a financial perspective. Real Madrid would be bolstering their defensive line without the burden of a transfer fee, especially considering the severity of the injuries to key players like Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao.
**Interviewer:** True, but do you think Laporte would be willing to terminate his contract and come back to Europe? He just won the European Championship with Spain.
**Maria Gonzalez:** That’s a significant consideration. Laporte’s recent success may make him hesitant to leave a competitive setup in Saudi Arabia. However, a move back to a marquee club like Real Madrid could be very appealing, especially with their current need for defenders.
**Interviewer:** With only two nominal central defenders left in the squad, do you think Real has no choice but to act quickly? Could this reliance on inexperienced players like Raúl Asencio affect their performance in the league and Champions League?
**Maria Gonzalez:** Yes, it’s a risky situation. Relying on young and inexperienced players could lead to more inconsistency in an already challenging season. If they can secure Laporte, it could not only stabilize the defense but also provide guidance for younger players.
**Interviewer:** So, to wrap up, do you think fans should be excited about the potential arrival of Laporte, or are there better options out there?
**Maria Gonzalez:** I think fans should be cautiously optimistic. Laporte may not be the only option, but given the current circumstances, he’s a strong candidate to meet Real Madrid’s immediate needs. It’ll be interesting to see how this unfolds!
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Maria! Now, readers, what do you think about the potential signing of Aymeric Laporte? Would you welcome him back to La Liga, or do you believe there are better alternatives for Real Madrid? Let’s hear your thoughts!
