A fake website in the name of free solar panel scheme has been revealed in Punjab.
A ‘URL’ is being widely shared on social media with options for the user to enter details.
The above The link It has been shared in several online posts claiming that those who register on this link will be provided with free solar panels for their homes by the Punjab government under the “Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme”.
The viral URL provides a registration form for Punjab government’s free solar panel distribution program. According to the website, the program is for customers who consume between 100 and 500 units of electricity per month.
The form asks Punjab residents to provide their name and ID card number and also mentions a deadline of November 10 to be eligible.
This website link on WhatsApp groups, X and Facebook Here And Here was shared.
However, this website is fake and the claim is also false.
If users open this link and log in, they will see a few options that require their name, monthly unit usage, etc.
However, this link is fake which can lead to fraud with citizens.
According to a private TV report, a government official and a cyber security expert confirmed that the website link was fake.
In fact, in March this year, the Roshan Gharana program was introduced by the Punjab government, the aim of which was to distribute 50,000 solar systems to low-income families. However, according to Adnan Mudassar, project director of the Roshan Gharana programme, the scheme has yet to be launched.
He said that all these websites are fake and have nothing to do with the government. Government has not yet launched its registration process, when it is launched will inform people through media.
