Increase in homicides in Sinaloa
Marcela Figueroa stated that despite the downward trend, in the state of Sinaloa there is an increase in intentional homicides in September and October.
“Throughout 2024 (the homicide trend) was very stable and the increase that has been recorded was in the third week of September,” he noted.
The official attributed this increase in the number of homicides to the internal struggle of the Sinaloa Cartel which became more acute because Joaquín Guzmán López rose on July 25 to Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada on a plane and delivered him to the United States.
Due to this, the wave of violence of more than 200 murders in the state of Sinaloa was unleashed on September 9 and has continued until now.
