Regarding today’s statements by NEOS General Secretary Hoyos in “profil”, SPÖ federal managing director Klaus Seltenheim told the SPÖ press service on Friday: “People want answers to their most pressing concerns and needs: How do I pay for my apartment? Can I still afford heating? Will I keep my job? What people don’t want is a policy that puts posts before content,” says Seltenheim, astonished by NEOS’s behavior. “The SPÖ wants to bring Austria forward again and make life easier for the people in our country,” said Seltenheim. “This requires a government that must first and foremost enter into a coalition with the population. It may be surprising for the NEOS, but we will first address affordable living, climate, health, asylum, security and much more. The NEOS should actually know that it’s about content and not about posts when it comes to making people’s lives better,” says Seltenheim. **** (end) bj/mb

**Interview with Klaus Seltenheim, SPÖ Federal Managing Director**
**Interviewer:** Klaus, today you commented on the statements made by NEOS General Secretary Hoyos regarding the coalition talks. You emphasized the importance of content over posts. Can you elaborate on why you believe that?
**Klaus Seltenheim:** Absolutely. What concerns us is that people are facing real challenges in their daily lives—rising costs of living, health concerns, and security issues. We need to prioritize these pressing demands rather than get caught up in the politics of position. The SPÖ is committed to addressing the needs of the population first and foremost.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned that NEOS appears to be more interested in securing positions. What do you think drives this focus on posts rather than addressing substantive issues?
**Klaus Seltenheim:** It’s a matter of values and priorities. If parties are more focused on gaining power and influence, they risk losing touch with the grassroots realities of citizens. We need to foster a government that puts the electorate’s needs at the forefront.
**Interviewer:** In your opinion, what might be the impact of this approach on public trust in political institutions?
**Klaus Seltenheim:** If parties prioritize content, they can rebuild trust with the public. Citizens want to see tangible efforts and solutions rather than political maneuvering. It’s paramount that we create a government that feels accessible and attentive to the people’s actual concerns.
**Interviewer:** Considering your perspective, how do you think the citizens will react to NEOS’s tactics, and what impact might it have on future coalitions?
**Klaus Seltenheim:** I believe that citizens will recognize who is genuine in addressing their needs and who is playing political games. This could very well shape future coalitions, as parties that align with public sentiment and prioritize substantive issues may be seen more favorably.
**Interviewer:** That’s a compelling outlook, Klaus. how important do you think public engagement will be in shaping the future policies of any coalition?
**Klaus Seltenheim:** Public engagement is crucial. A coalition must be in touch with its citizens. Ultimately, it’s about making life better for people in Austria, and that can’t happen without their input and participation.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for your insights, Klaus. The focus on the people’s needs versus political positions is certainly a hot topic. What do you, the readers, think? Should political parties prioritize the content of their policies over the pursuit of power? Let’s discuss!
