Israeli President: Terrorists had textbooks on how to torture and kidnap people
Israeli President Isaac Herzog told CNN that the Hamas terrorists who invaded Israel last week in an unprecedented attack carried with them instructions to torture and kidnap people they found.
“It was found on the body of one of the terrorists. This is a booklet. This booklet is an instruction on how to break into civilian areas, a kibbutz, a city, a moshav, how to break in,” the president explained.
“And the first thing you do when you find citizens is you torture them. In the booklet, it is written exactly how to torture them, how to kidnap them”, commented I. Herzog, holding a copy of the leaflet.
Terrorists killed around 1,300 people, mostly civilians, and took at least 155 hostages in the attack on Israeli border communities.
I. Herzog noted that many of the hostages are elderly people or children.
“Who are these hostages? Babies, pregnant women, elderly people with dementia, even with carers, families, innocent civilians from 36 nations – people were killed or kidnapped from 36 nations,” he stressed.
He also recounts some of the horrors he witnessed this morning while touring Kibbutz Be’eri, one of the hardest-hit areas.
“I saw the worst scenes. I saw the scalp of a woman in the house I visited, the house completely destroyed, completely destroyed. They just cut off her head,” the president recalled.

**Interview with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Recent Hamas Attacks**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us, President Herzog. In light of the recent attacks by Hamas, can you elaborate on what you mentioned regarding the materials the terrorists carried with them?
**President Herzog:** Thank you for having me. What we’ve discovered is alarming. The terrorists who invaded our territories were not only armed but also came equipped with a booklet—an instruction manual detailing how to infiltrate civilian areas, like kibbutzim and cities. This document provided explicit guidelines on acts of violence, including torture and kidnapping.
**Interviewer:** That sounds quite disturbing. What specific types of instructions were included in this booklet?
**President Herzog:** The instructions covered various tactics for breaking into homes and public spaces. It included methods to create chaos, take hostages, and inflict terror on our civilians. This underscores the premeditated nature of the attack and their willingness to inflict calculated harm.
**Interviewer:** Given this insight, what steps is Israel taking to enhance security and prevent future incursions?
**President Herzog:** We are reinforcing our defenses significantly. This includes both military readiness and intelligence operations. We’re also working closely with our allies to share information and strategies. Our goal is to ensure the safety of our citizens and prevent such heinous acts from being repeated.
**Interviewer:** There are discussions about the broader context of this conflict. How do you see a way forward for peace in the region?
**President Herzog:** The road to peace is fraught with challenges. Understanding the motivations behind such violence is crucial. While we are committed to protecting our homeland, we must also seek dialogue with moderate voices on the other side. This situation is tragic, and we must work tirelessly to find solutions that ensure security and mutual respect.
**Interviewer:** Thank you for sharing your thoughts, President Herzog. It is clear that the situation is complex and requires ongoing attention and dialogue.
**President Herzog:** Thank you for having me. The world must stand together against terror and work towards a peaceful resolution.
