Filme, Regisseur*innen, Drehbuchautor*innen und Schauspieler*innen der FILMFEST HAMBURG-Programme von 2023 und 2024 wurden insgesamt 31-mal für den Europäischen Filmpreis nominiert, darunter Jacques Audiards <a href="https://www.archyde.com/selena-gomez-in-a-musical-by-jacques-audiard/" title="Selena Gomez in a musical by Jacques Audiard“>Emilia Pérez und The Room Next Door von Pedro Almodóvar, die beide mit jeweils vier Nominierungen überzeugen konnten. Darüber hinaus wurde der diesjährige MAJA-Gewinnerfilm das MICHEL Kinder und Jugend Filmfest Lars ist LOL von Eirik Sæter Stordahl für den EUROPEAN YOUNG AUDICENCE AWARD nominiert. **Interview with Janne Schmidt, Film Critic and Member of the European Film Academy**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Janne. The nominations for the European Film Awards have just been announced, and it looks like this year’s lineup is impressive. What stood out to you in the nominations, particularly with films from the Filmfest Hamburg programs?
**Janne Schmidt:** Thank you for having me! Yes, I am genuinely excited about this year’s nominations. The fact that *Emilia Pérez* and *The Room Next Door* received four nominations each is quite remarkable. Both Jacques Audiard and Pedro Almodóvar have consistently pushed the boundaries of storytelling in cinema, and it’s wonderful to see their work being recognized on such a prestigious platform.
**Interviewer:** Absolutely! It seems like the European Film Academy is really highlighting the diversity of talent across Europe with these nominations. Can you tell us more about the significance of the European Young Audience Award and the nomination of *Lars ist LOL*?
**Janne Schmidt:** The European Young Audience Award is especially vital as it fosters a connection with younger viewers and encourages the appreciation of cinema among the youth. The nomination of *Lars ist LOL* is significant not just for the film itself but also for the message it conveys to younger audiences. Eirik Sæter Stordahl’s work effectively engages with themes relevant to today’s youth, making it relatable and crucial in our film landscape.

**Interviewer:** That sounds fantastic! Lastly, what do you think this recognition means for the future of European cinema?
**Janne Schmidt:** The fact that there are so many films being recognized shows a growing interest and investment in European cinema. It highlights unique voices and stories that deserve attention. As the Film Academy continues to support and promote these talents, I believe we will see even more innovative films emerging from Europe in the coming years. It’s an exciting time!
