O Spotify and the TikTok launched today new integrations that make it even easier to share and discover music across platforms, allowing users to publish content directly from streaming on the social network.
The “Share on TikTok” function allows you to publish songs, playlists and other audios in the Feed, in Stories or DMs, integrating music, podcasts and audiobooks via Spotify’s green screen or photo mode, with clickable links that direct to the service.
Another new feature is that, through Spotify, users can now save songs from Instagram to the “Liked Songs” playlist with just one tap. Just click on the song playing on Instagram and it is automatically added to Spotify.
This integration with Instagram adds to other features already available in Meta apps and other networks, such as Snapchat and X (formerly Twitter), which facilitates the transition between music streaming and social networks.
It is worth remembering that, with the arrival of iOS 18.1o Apple Music started allowing music sharing on TikTok. In addition, it has also been possible to save songs directly from the platform on Maçã streaming since last year.
To the TechCrunchthe social network’s head of music business, Ole Obermannsaid the feature helps people discover new music and promotes artists, creating a partnership with streaming services rather than competing with them.
Since its launch, the “Add to Music App” feature has been responsible for hundreds of millions of saved songs and billions of streams on partner streaming services. “Share on TikTok” completes the user experience and will be a great way to promote artists and tracks to the community.
Both features are being gradually released and will soon be available to all users. To take advantage of the new features, it is worth checking whether both Spotify and TikTok are updated in the App Store.

**Interview with Ole Obermann, Head of Music Business at TikTok**
**Editor:** Welcome, Ole! TikTok just launched the ‘Share to TikTok’ feature in collaboration with Spotify and Instagram. How do you see this integration enhancing the TikTok experience for users?
**Ole Obermann:** Thank you for having me! This integration is a game-changer. It allows users to easily share their favorite songs, playlists, and audio content directly from Spotify and Instagram to their TikTok feeds. This not only enhances user engagement but also enables seamless music discovery on our platform.
**Editor:** That sounds exciting! Can you explain how the ‘Share on TikTok’ function works exactly?
**Ole Obermann:** Absolutely! When users are streaming music on Spotify, they can publish that content directly to TikTok—be it in their Feed, Stories, or DMs. We’ve integrated features like green screen and photo mode, which allows users to create unique content while providing clickable links that direct viewers back to Spotify. So, it’s a very fluid experience for both content creators and their audience.
**Editor:** That’s an amazing way to merge social media and music streaming. How do you anticipate this feature will benefit artists and music discovery?
**Ole Obermann:** This feature is all about partnership, not competition. By facilitating the sharing of music, we help artists reach wider audiences. Users will discover new tracks that they might not have come across otherwise, and for artists, it’s a fantastic way to promote their work organically. The ‘Add to Music App’ feature has already led to hundreds of millions of songs being saved, which indicates a strong appetite for this kind of interaction.
**Editor:** In addition to TikTok, we’ve seen Spotify’s integration with Instagram and the functionality to save songs directly. Do you believe this trend of cross-platform sharing will continue to grow?
**Ole Obermann:** Definitely! The ability to share music across multiple platforms is crucial in today’s digital landscape. We’ve seen successful integrations with other services like Snapchat and X, and as we expand these capabilities, it will only enrich the user experience across social networks and streaming services alike.
**Editor:** Lastly, what do you think is the future of music sharing on social media?
**Ole Obermann:** The future is all about collaboration and accessibility. As platforms continue to innovate and find new ways to connect users with music, we can expect even more fluidity in how we share and discover songs. The goal is to create an ecosystem where music is not just listened to, but experienced and shared effortlessly.
**Editor:** Thank you, Ole, for sharing your insights today! We can’t wait to see how users embrace these new features.
**Ole Obermann:** Thank you! We’re excited to see the creativity that emerges from this integration.
