**Interview with Thomas Dermine, Future Mayor of Charleroi**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us, Thomas. Congratulations on your election! It seems the PS has secured a strong majority in Charleroi. How are you feeling about your new role and the responsibilities that come with it?
**Dermine:** Thank you! I’m incredibly excited and honored to take on this responsibility. It’s a privilege to lead such a vibrant city. Having the support of our citizens gives us a mandate to implement our vision for Charleroi, focusing on safety, economic development, and urban planning.
**Editor:** You’ve mentioned the key areas you’ll be overseeing. Security and Budget are significant challenges. What strategies do you have in mind to tackle these?
**Dermine:** Yes, security is paramount. We plan to collaborate closely with local law enforcement and community organizations to enhance safety measures. As for the budget, we will be prioritizing transparency and efficiency, ensuring that every euro spent contributes to the city’s development. Engaging with citizens to understand their needs will guide our financial decisions.
**Editor:** Beyond security and budget, urban planning is crucial. What are your initial thoughts on how to improve Charleroi’s urban landscape?
**Dermine:** We want to revitalize public spaces and promote sustainable urban development. It’s about creating a city that is not only functional but also enjoyable to live in. This includes investing in green spaces, improving public transport, and fostering a sense of community through neighborhood initiatives.
**Editor:** Higher education is another area you’re focusing on. How can the city support educational institutions and students?
**Dermine:** Education is vital for the future of Charleroi. We aim to strengthen partnerships with local universities and vocational schools to ensure our youth have access to quality education and job opportunities. Supporting student initiatives and creating incentives for educational institutions to expand their presence here will also be a priority.
**Editor:** Lastly, do you have a message for the citizens of Charleroi as you embark on this new term?
**Dermine:** I want to assure the citizens that I am committed to serving them to the best of my ability. Your voices matter, and together, we can tackle the challenges ahead and build a brighter future for Charleroi. I encourage everyone to get involved, share their ideas, and be part of this exciting journey.
**Editor:** Thank you, Thomas. We wish you the best of luck in your new role as mayor!
