Tiburones de La Guaira displayed their offensive power against Caribes de Anzoátegui to win with a score of 12-8, in a match played on Tuesday night at the Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel stadium in Puerto La Cruz.
It was a clash with a lot of movement on the bases, as up to 31 hits were connected and 20 runs were scored. Although La Tribu recorded a total of 20 hits, the lack of timely hits took its toll and they lost for the fifth consecutive game.
With the victory, the sharks consolidated themselves at the top of the table in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) with a balance of 13-8. On the contrary, the Aboriginals sank even further into the basement and are 7-11, 4.5 games from the top.
Exploded opener
Bigleaguer Mauricio Llovera was the starter for Caribes, but he could not show his credentials against the Guaireño offensive. He was barely able to get out the first inning, in which he got four runs.
From the second inning, manager Morgan Ensberg gave the ball to imported José Rodríguez, who worked a total of four innings in which he allowed two streaks.
La Maquinaria Indígena was able to score with a score in the third inning and another in the fifth, but La Guaira rose again in the sixth inning and scored four runs for reliever Enderjer Sifontes. The locals responded immediately with three more, to make the score 10-5.
In the seventh episode, the Salados made two more to stretch the difference and the Orientals responded with three in the eighth. In the ninth inning, the Anzoatiguense ninth team posed a threat, as they had men on first and second base with Balbino Fuenmayor at bat, but the slugger grounded out to the shortstop to end the duel.
coastal figure
The coastal team had right fielder Luis Matos as their guide in attack, as he went 3 for 5 with four RBIs, including a home run with two teammates in circulation. The victory was for Emilio Vargas (2-1) and the defeat for Llovera (0-1)
It is worth noting that in this challenge the Aboriginal defense made four errors that cost at least two unearned runs in the sixth inning. And although the offense scored eight runs (more than the last four games where they only scored seven), the team couldn’t take advantage of that.
Guaireños and Anzoatiguenses will meet again this Wednesday in the Portocruzano park, for the second of a series of two challenges.

**Interview with Carlos Pérez, Sports Analyst**
**Interviewer:** Welcome, Carlos! It’s great to have you with us to discuss the recent game between Tiburones de La Guaira and Caribes de Anzoátegui. The final score was 12-8 in favor of the Tiburones. What stood out to you in this match?
**Carlos Pérez:** Thank you for having me! There were definitely some notable moments in this game. The offensive explosion from Tiburones was impressive, scoring 12 runs with 15 hits. Their batting lineup really showcased their power, and it’s clear they’re in great form right now.
**Interviewer:** Absolutely! Caribes had 20 hits of their own but struggled to convert those into runs. What do you think contributed to that?
**Carlos Pérez:** That’s one of the fascinating aspects of baseball—it’s not just about the number of hits, but also about being timely. Caribes had players on base multiple times, but they couldn’t deliver when it mattered most. It’s a tough break for them, especially as this marks their fifth consecutive loss.
**Interviewer:** With this victory, Tiburones solidified their position at the top of the table. How important is it for them to maintain this momentum in upcoming games?
**Carlos Pérez:** It’s crucial. Staying at the top builds confidence and establishes them as a team to beat. They have a good mix of experienced players and emerging talent, which is a recipe for success as they head deeper into the season. A sweep on Portocruz soil would further enhance their lead and send a message to the rest of the league.
**Interviewer:** Speaking of upcoming games, they have a rematch against Caribes on November 6th. What are your predictions for that game?
**Carlos Pérez:** I expect Tiburones to come out strong again. If they can replicate their offensive performance and tighten up their defense, they should be in a good position to secure the sweep. Meanwhile, Caribes needs to regroup and find ways to capitalize on their chances. It’s a critical game for both teams.
**Interviewer:** Great insights, Carlos! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this exciting matchup in the LVBP. We look forward to seeing how it unfolds!
**Carlos Pérez:** Thank you! I’m excited too—let’s see if Tiburones can keep their winning streak alive!
