In this context, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, where security, military and field developments were presented in light of Israel’s continued aggression against Lebanon. Aoun and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati also discussed the same file, where he briefed them on Results of the initial investigation carried out by the army command regarding the kidnapping that took place in Batroun.
According to informed sources, the army commander carried with him to the government palace and Ain al-Tineh the results of what the radar recorded at dawn on Friday, and it turned out that the naval force did not detect any maritime violation along the coast.
The Lebanese authorities were not informed by the German forces operating within the UNIFIL forces of any suspicious movement before and during the landing and kidnapping operation.
While the Army Command awaits clarifications from the International Forces Command about the reasons for the lack of prior warnings, the Army Commander pointed out that investigations will continue until all the circumstances related to the dangerous incident are known, but he expressed his dissatisfaction with the systematic campaign against the Army and its leadership, which accuses it of negligence.
Joseph Aoun considered that questioning the morality of the military establishment in these dangerous circumstances supports the goals of Israel, which wants to sow discord in Lebanon.
The army’s account of the landing
According to the information, the army commander explained the difficulty of detecting members of the naval commando, and pointed out that there are 10 naval radars in Lebanon and that there are corners close to the shore, and certain points that the radar cannot detect.
The army confirmed that small boats that do not have a tracking and information device and that sail at a certain speed are also unable to be detected by radar.
The radar also detects boats, boats and ships and marks them with zero points on the map, but the speed and height of the waves lead to the disappearance and then the appearance of the yellow dots constantly, which leads to the radar giving false and ambiguous warnings.
Radar jamming?
According to the army’s initial report, the “Shaetet 13” force arrived by sea, but at the border they used small boats such as fishermen’s boats that do not have a radar detection device, and the members of the division headed to the beach near the fishermen’s port, specifically from the angle where the radar could not pick them up. They carried out the landing operation.
Al-Diyar newspaper reported that the radar was jammed, disrupting its operation.
