The Indonesian National Sports COMMITTEE (KONI) is targeting the sports branches that will be competed in at the 2028 National Sports Week (PON) to be announced in December.
” KONI General Chair Marciano Norman is seeking a Decree regarding the XXII/2028 PON sport in NTB-NTT to be issued in December,” said KONI’s written statement, Thursday (7/11).
KONI prioritizes the sports that will be competed in PON 2028 as the branches in the Olympics.

Meanwhile, for branches that will not compete in the upcoming PON, they will still be accommodated to compete through several breakthrough events from KONI which are held every two years in districts/cities.
These events are the National Martial Arts Games (IMAG), National Beach Sports Week (Indonesia Beach Games), Indoor Sports Week (Indonesia Indoor Games), and Youth PON (Indonesia Youth Games).
KONI General Chair Marciano said there were several things that would immediately be addressed to welcome the upcoming PON, such as regulations, athlete transfers, and so on.
Previously, he also encouraged the governance of member organizations at the central to regional levels to be better so that the coaching program was also more productive in producing quality athletes.
“If the athletes at the district/city level are good, then those who compete at the provincial level and become champions will be the truly best athletes,” he said. (Z-6)
