PCB has sought feedback from other teams to take action against Multan Sultans for non-payment.
The PSL franchises were required by law to submit a bank guarantee equal to the full fee six months before each edition, but on the demand of the team owners, the PCB recently allowed them to issue checks at later dates. Time was given till October 10 for payment, during which time 5 franchises fulfilled their financial obligations, Islamabad United submitted bank guarantee while Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi sent checks.
No check has been sent by Multan Sultans, the latest development in the matter came when the board sent an email to the other five franchises. If so, advise what action should be taken against it. Interestingly, in the last Governing Council meeting, it was decided that if a team delays now, it will have to submit a bank guarantee 12 months before the event for the next 2 years. Nevertheless, the board preferred consultation rather than decision itself.
When contacted in this regard, Multan Sultans General Manager Haider Azhar said that before the meeting last month, team owner Alamgir Khan Tarin had gone out of the country, that’s why Taimur Malik joined me, we told the board in an email. It was given that the check will be submitted by October 25 on the return of Alamgir Khan, we will fulfill our financial obligations while fully complying with the PSL agreement. On the other hand, the PCB spokesman apologized for commenting on the matter. It should be noted that the PCB will use the checks of the franchisees on November 11, the day the fee becomes due.
