A total of 514 athletes from 37 disciplines will represent the Anzoátegui state in the Oriente 2024 National and Paranational Sports Games, whose opening is next Friday, November 8.
This was reported by the governor of the entity, Luis Marcano, who led the flag ceremony that took place this Tuesday the 5th at the Luis Ramos gym on the Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz axis.
In this activity, Valeska Betancourt and Guillermo Cobo, young people who practice swimming and kickboxing, respectively, were the athletes who had the honor of receiving the state flag and will be the standard bearers of the Anzoatiguense delegation in the tournament.
It is worth remembering that the national competition will be held between Sucre, Monagas and Anzoátegui. According to Marcano, this last state will host 19 disciplines, mostly collective (basketball, soccer, baseball, etc.), so more than 4 thousand people from different parts of the country are expected, including athletes, coaches, referees, etc. .
More details
The State Executive highlighted that there are 15 infrastructures that will be available for the events and all located in the northern area of the entity. He added that to keep them in tune, they had to invest in the recovery of some and even the construction of new spaces, such as the 3×3 basketball court at Parque Caribe in Lechería.
Marcano took the opportunity to highlight the recovery of the José Antonio Anzoátegui Olympic stadium, which is also being installed an international-class athletics track, with certification from World Athletics, the body that governs the discipline worldwide.
Growth
The governor pointed out that in the 2022 edition of the National Games Anzoátegui participated in 55% of the disciplines that were in dispute, while by 2024 action will be seen with 70%. “This speaks of the results that the effort to have the State Games in 2022, 2023 and 2024 is giving,” he emphasized.
Finally, he highlighted that the entity was a pioneer in the organization of Paranational Games, which can represent an advantage in the Paranational Games. He noted that the classification in the medal table will be defined by combining the performance in the two competitions, which he believes can be an incentive to increase support for para-athletes.
