Ottawa University Soccer Players Earn Seven All-KCAC Honors

WICHITA, Kan. – In a notable achievement for the Ottawa University men’s soccer program, seven standout players have been recognized on the All-KCAC team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. Senior forward Bence Molnar, Junior midfielder Alonso Basauri, Junior defender Toby Witham, Sophomore forward Cale Scott, Graduate Student midfielder Jack Hatswell, Junior defender Felipe Padierna, and Sophomore forward Jevan Purcell-Jackson were awarded All-KCAC honors this season.

Molnar, a Senior forward hailing from Budapest, Hungary, received first-team accolades for an impressive third consecutive year. Competing in 17 matches with 16 starts, Molnar demonstrated his offensive prowess by netting ten goals and providing eight assists, underscoring his vital role in the team’s success.

Basauri, representing Santiago, Chile, also made the first team for the second year in succession. The Junior midfielder contributed significantly to the squad, playing and starting in all 18 matches, where he notched ten goals and led the squad with an impressive eleven assists.

Witham, a Junior defender from Pulborough, England, earned a first-team selection after consistently showcasing his defensive skills. Starting all 18 games, Witham found the back of the net seven times and contributed four assists, highlighting a well-rounded capability on both ends of the field.

Scott, a Sophomore forward from Lawrence, Kansas, was another impactful player, receiving first-team recognition. He participated in all 18 games, starting 17, and emerged as the team’s leading scorer with 13 goals, alongside eight assists, making him a central figure in the attacking strategies this season.

Hatswell, a Graduate midfielder from Ottery St. Mary, England, made the second team after anchoring the midfield in all 18 games. Although he scored just one goal, his playmaking ability was showcased with a crucial assist, earning him a deserved spot in the rankings.

Padierna, a Junior defender from Cadiz, Spain, received honorable mention status. Starting 16 of his 18 appearances, Padierna’s contributions on the defensive side included a key assist that played a part in several scoring opportunities for Ottawa.

Purcell-Jackson, a Sophomore forward from Derbyshire, England, also received honorable mention for his performance this season. Despite making seven starts in 16 games, he managed to score five goals and provide four assists, indicating a promising future for the young athlete.
