A. Duda calls the Polish parliamentary elections a proof of democratic maturity

Mr. Duda said that a “huge number of voters” took part in the general election, which he said was the largest in the long history of free, independent and sovereign Poland.

According to preliminary data published by the State Election Commission on Monday, voter turnout reached more than 70 percent.

The president said that he had earlier urged Poles to participate in the vote and thanked them for their participation, especially for the fact that the vote was conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner despite the high turnout.

A. Duda emphasized that there were “many fears” about the elections.

“You know that there is a state of war, that there is a war behind our eastern border, that we have a hybrid attack from Belarus, that there were a lot of potential opportunities to interfere in our elections in various ways,” he said, thanking everyone who ensured Poland’s security.

He said that every election “is a kind of test of how democratic a society is, how mature a society is, how strong we are as a society.”

Duda also said it was important to get official final election results, which are expected to be announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Opinion polls show that the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) won the most votes in Poland’s parliamentary elections on Sunday, but the opposition will have a majority in parliament.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, delegated by PiS, said that his party will try to form a government if the president asks for it.

**Interview with⁢ Political Analyst⁣ Dr. Anna Kowalska on the 2023 Polish Parliamentary ⁣Election**

**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Kowalska. The recent parliamentary elections ⁤in⁢ Poland saw an impressive voter turnout. What are your thoughts⁢ on Mr.‍ Duda’s comments regarding this historic participation?

**Dr. Kowalska:** Thank you for having me. Mr. Duda’s remarks reflect a significant moment for Polish democracy. A‌ voter turnout ⁢of‍ over 70 percent indeed indicates ⁤a robust engagement from the electorate. It shows that people are invested in their democratic process and that they want their voices heard.

**Interviewer:** What factors do you think contributed to this high level of ‍voter participation?

**Dr. Kowalska:** Several factors likely played a role. Firstly, the political landscape in Poland has ⁣been particularly polarized in recent years, which often motivates voters to make their voices ‌count. Additionally, there may have been effective⁤ campaigns urging participation. The emphasis on the importance of voting in Mr. Duda’s earlier statements could have galvanized support as well.

**Interviewer:** Given this turnout, what do ⁢you think it signals for the future of Polish politics?

**Dr. Kowalska:** A‌ high turnout often reflects a desire for change or reinforces the demand for accountability among elected officials. In the context of Poland, it might indicate that voters are not only concerned about ‍local issues but also about their place in the European Union and global politics. This could potentially‍ lead ⁢to shifts in policy focus⁤ or political alignments moving forward.

**Interviewer:**⁢ How‌ do you foresee⁤ the current political landscape⁣ evolving after this election?

**Dr. ‍Kowalska:** Depending on the party composition ‌resulting from the election, we could see new alliances forming ⁢or even a alignment of the opposition. The challenge will ‌be for elected officials to unify⁢ various factions within the electorate and address the pressing issues many Poles face, including economic concerns and social policies.

**Interviewer:** Thank you, ‍Dr. Kowalska, for⁤ your insights. It will be interesting to⁤ see how these developments ‌unfold in the coming months.

**Dr. Kowalska:** Thank you.⁣ I’m looking forward to ⁤it as well!
